I have this little daydream every so often that I'll log on one day and find my project is the featured one I was wondering if any of you who has had one of their projects featured has had a feeling before they posted it that it was a bit special. You sometimes hear artists and bands say that they had a feeling that they'd written a hit/number 1 or whatever... Just me having a silly girly moment

I'm more into quirky more than cute. In fact I'm going to go one step further and come out of the closet here, please don't hate me for this - I don't like hello kitty!!! I also don't like kawaii or very much of the anime stuff. I do like the stuff Alicia on here makes though - she does the crocheted safety cones but I suppose they are quirky cute rather than cutsey. I do however beleive in the rule that the exception proves the rule. Normally if there's a bat in a craft I don't care how tacky, cutsey, girly it is I want it ^*^ Probably my only girly girly taste is that I do like bright pink. It has to be bright though, not pastel and I like more punkier stuff.
I've just read this back and sound really high maintenance so I think I'd better stop here You aren't alone though in not liking cutsey.
I've added you both as friends - hope thats okay
I'm Kathakana (I think) *runs and checks*
Yep Kathakana
cool More sweeties
beadsdirect.co.uk might be worth a look as they a load of pendants and charms. I've had a look and the bird charms look like swallows to me :/ I'm not sure though. Check the site and search for bird in the search window and see what you think.
I like the Unclutterer blog -> http://unclutterer.com/
I also really like http://blog.craftzine.com/ and http://makezine.com/
No worries x
I think its really tough working for yourself. I'm a qualified massage therapist and I do that on the side of the job I'm currently in but its so hard drumming up trade. Also with massage you don't want the wrong trade, if you get my meaning. Its also really tough selling yourself when your depressed. Its hard to believe that your worth hyping.
Have you got a flickr account? That can be another way to get your pics out there. Also I try to remind myself (although nowhere near enough) that my brain maybe wired differently to others but that sometimes means I see things others miss. The same is true for you - keep your eye out for other business that maybe struggling or places where you can see potential if they updated their marketing and approach them and ask if you could take some product shots for them. If they like what you've done then you're more than willing to negotiate a price that works for both of you. You have nothing to loose. You're extremely creative - just look at all the projects you've posted!!!
Also you could have a think about some slightly offbeat ways of attracting business. There must be occasions when people want pics where they are not currently being offered.... You're are also very environmentally conscious and ethical about how you trade so you could try approaching somewhere like your local animal shelter, or a conservation area or elderly care home or nursery. Our older clients where I work love showing of photos. They're not interested in digital pics, they want something to carry round with them and show people. You could also offer workshops to new parents on taking a good pic.
Sorry, I got a bit carried away there. Its just that I'd hate to see you throw in the towel just yet. I totally understand what you're saying about how much trade you need to have to stay afloat so maybe get some part time work but don't let the business go just yet.
Creative I don't think you've ever been rude or offensive. I think sometimes your honesty may hit a nerve but that's not a reason for not saying anything. Sometimes things need saying and I think of your honesty as part of you and a positive. I also agree with Sheila - honesty can be extremely refreshing.
9 years with out taking sick leave is an amazing achievement but only human so don't be too tough on yourself. Also your in pain which can be really tiring, especially if your sleeping well or eating as well as normal. I run a pain support group at work and the group are always saying about the frustration and tiredness. Does it ease with heat or cold, if it does then maybe a hot pack or cold pack maybe helpful. Also remember your good advice to us. Its not a step back, its a bump in the road. A big cyberhug is winging its way to you as I type x
I like the idea of a journal. I just remembered that when one of our clients at work died we sprinkled forget me not seeds in the garden so I might send some of those too. I also like the bracelet idea as I have some pretty letter beads so I could put her initials in the bracelet. Thank u both of you.
I love a good lolcat so Icanhazcheezburger.com is a fav - also it links to graphjam and lolceleb which are also funny
I hope so too. no worries about the misunderstanding. I took it that you that you were looking out for me so I didn't misunderstand it in a bad way.
how about a t-shirt. Also something like a courier bag type thing if your good on the sewing machine. Also blokes are wearing more jewellery these days so you could do a pendant which is on thong.
