There are some very cool wigs out there - I got a navy blue one recently as I fancy having blue hair again but without all the work. I like the idea of wearing a headscarf with big earrings. I think the hardest bit of having short hair is feeling feminine but thats when make up and jewellery come in handy. Also the little tiny hair grips which you buy for children work well in short hair as do the tiny bulldog clippy things (can't think what the name is). You can also play around with colours and different products when its short. I loved how Sarah Harding (Girls Aloud) had her hair when it was short. Also Michelle Williams looks incredibly feminine. The other thing with having v short hair is it seems to grow really quickly. I don't think it actually grows any faster but you notice it much more. I found this when I was looking for a pic of Sarah H and it also has a load of other famous women with short haircuts. http://www.dhaircut.com/short-hairstyles/women-short-hairstyles-pixie-cuts/#more-251 and this pic
You could try something like a plush toy thats filled with rice/wheat to make a heat pack. I've seen tutorials on here and will add a link in a sec. You could also make her something like an eye mask as hospitals are meant to be pretty tricky to sleep in. Or you could make her up a little survival kit with all the things she'll need to survive her hospital stay. I made my niece something similar when she went to her first music festival. I included things like hand sanitiser, ear plugs, eye mask, a little bit of make up, a small can of dry shampoo, etc.
EDIT: here's a link to some of the heat pack projects that have appeared here http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/how-tos/category/fashion/beauty/Toiletries/remedies-soothers/heat_and_cold_packs
I've been pinning every cartoon or plush similar to get ideas. It helps to know they're called water bears too. I'm thinking I might need to use some elastic round the nossel thingy so that it has that hoover bag appearance that they seem to have.
My name is Katherine and I get called Kat mostly but Kitkat or Auntie Kitkat is what my friends children know me as
You could also go down a more surrealism route and draw things that are distorted in some way or in unexpected places.
Lol their tardigrade actually looks quite cute. Its given me some ideas though and I had no idea they were called waterbears too. I never even knew they existed till yesterday.
Has she done swaps before - it looks like she's new as she's only made one forum post and that was the one signing up.
My bf's work department have decided to adopt the tardigrade as their work mascot (???) and want me to make them one. I've found some pics - one here - http://www.ign.com/blogs/skeevin/2012/08/15/volus-are-real-and-the-bbc-has-revealed-their-secret-origins
I haven't the foggiest how to even start this or what to make it from - it sounds as if they'd like it to be a plush type toy. It looks to me like an alien hoover bag to me so any suggestions or ideas how to recreate one would be very welcome
I'm already well under way with my first item and having fun planning the rest
I'm so pleased its finally over - looking forward to seeing what you both have made
Not a problem at all Got all of my crafting supplies for both swaps I'm doing so I'm now well under way.
Do you mean on here? Not all the projects uploaded have how tos but I've had a quick check with a couple of how tos and they seem to come up okay. If there is an issue with the site not working maybe leave a comment in the site forum http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/board/site/comments and Cat or Tom will get on the case.
I don't mind swapping, if Tamaras okay with that. We're all in the UK and I've not started on anything so its no problem for me. I've even got some glow in the dark craft materials I could play around with if I was paired with Green Duck but I'm happy with whatever Monika decides so will leave it with her.
cool - looking forward to this one
