Nice blog, unfortunately I'm a veggie so I can't try any of the recipes. I did enjoy your photography though.

Speaking as a person who does not condone homosexual behavior, I do not believe the way most "Christians" react to homosexuality is right at all. Regardless of your personal values people deserve to be treated as such, and it seems that MOST Christians conveniently forget that the Bible also warns against judging other people.

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.

This verse also proves that no matter a person's sexual orientation they are loved by God, even if a person is a serial killer God still loves them.
Romans 5:85:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Although the Bible says homosexuality is a sin, it is not MORE sinful then say lying or stealing. I honestly believe that most Christians think they can justly attack homosexuals when the Bible, specifically says to "love thy neighbor", this includes the gay ones. I have Homosexual people in my personal family, and although I do not condone their behavior, they are still my family and I would NEVER throw stones at them.

Also just thought I would share these scripture which are in the NEW Testament regarding homosexuality:
    I Timothy 1:10, Romans 1:26-27

Regardless of your personal beliefs I believe everyone deserves dignity and respect. I do not feel it is right to attack homosexuals, Christians, or people of different religions. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and lifestyle, even if you do not agree, it is not your place to judge or condone them. God, (and many other religions) tell us to love not hate.

My socks need to at least be the same type. Otherwise the different textures/thickness will drive me crazy, IDK why I am OCD about that.

I would suggest you use this summer as an opportunity to volunteer at a non-profit organization. Animal pounds, Retirement homes, Hospitals, the Boys and Girls Club, etc. are good places to start.
Not only will you meet new people you will encounter new experiences that will help prepare you for an unfamiliar college campus.
Also SAVE MONEY, as much as you can! Most freshmen experience sever sticker chock once they realize the cost of books. Even if your parents will be paying for all of your schooling you will defiantly want spending money since most students spend a full day at school and eat on campus. Also there will be alot of fun things to do at college that will require cash, for example my University has a movie theater, bowling, tons of fast food, and a gym, among other things.
If you like reading I would strongly suggest you find a classic book to read as your summer project. It will keep your mind in "learning mode" and will also be an opportunity to attack a book without deadlines and really work on your comprehension skills.

Side note-If your college has orientation/freshman week be sure to go! It's alot of fun and you will have an opportunity to find your way around campus, as well as met some of your classmates. I would also suggest you figure out where your classes are prior to the first day, that way you won't risk being late, or not finding your classroom. Hope some of this helps. Happy

Kasia D. It appears to me as if everyone is giving advice for LONG TERM diet changes that would be beneficial to ANYONE, even someone not wanting to lose weight. Alot of people have mentioned the risks and impossibility of losing and keeping weight of in such a short time.

I understand you have an eating disorder, but everyone seems to genuinely want to help Emerge ! lose weight in a healthy manner. I think it is very important that if someone wants to lose weight they learn healthy ways and don't depend on harmful methods. This will help PREVENT Emerge ! from getting an eating disorder. I am assuming Emerge ! is overweight according to their BMI because they made a promise to someone else to lose weight. I have never heard of someone with an eating disorder promising someone else they would lose weight.
I sincerely hope you are able to get help with your disorder though.

I would suggest cutting out all junk food, soda, chips, etc. Also try to limit your salt intake since sodium makes you retain water. Try drinking unsweetened herbal tea instead.

Try to eat mostly veggies and fruit, they move through your system quicker than complex carbs or meat and will keep you hydrated and feeling satisfied.

Why don't you see if his family has a recipe for the cake. Most likely the version he tasted was a family favorite, surely a sister or cousin has the recipe written down, Did his mother have a recipe box, or cookbook she used regularly? I know the red and white checkered Betty Crocker cookbook was popular during this era.

Otherwise I would try finding a recipe for the cake that someone used during the 70's. A recipe can be reinvented many times you are probably trying newer/altered versions with different ingredients.
Hope those suggestions help, I have never heard of this recipe so I'm just guessing.

I LOVE craigslist and freecycle seems to be okay.
I have had flakers on freecycle they said they would pickup something, and never showed so I just goodwilled the items.
Also, these were FREE on craigslist, I just picked them up tonight. I got them as an ironic gift for my funky brother, but my husband decided he likes them, the steer is my fav. Happy Has anyone else found a free gem on either of the mentioned sites?

You could always just buy small magnetic strips for the bottom of the containers...and use a highly magnetic base board.

This is my most recent favorite project. I was able to recycle a studded belt that was falling apart and upcycle a very old pair of heels that were also in need of attention.

I am also proud with the way this chair I found in the trash turned out. YAY for recycling!
