I have just used clear glossy or matte spray paint in the past to seal clay and paint...it seems to last ok but I don't know how different climates would be...It's humid here.

If you want to do a trade I would be more than happy to send you some fabric medium so you will have some on hand next time 
What about using fabric paint medium that you add to acrylic paint? I don't see why it wouldn't work...you may want to test it out on a similar fabric though. Since you use an iron on low heat to bond the paint it seems like it should work.
If you had a sewing machine that does the quick embroidery you could do that instead.
IDk what your definition of Pop Art is...I typically think of Andy Warhol. If that is what you mean then maybe you could do some celebrity prints, but instead of Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy you could do modern actors.
