I thought... we've had lots and lots of winter, and most of us are starting to really look forward to SPRING!
So... let's imagine all the flowers and greenery, and the lovely mild weather (and spring showers!) by getting started on a springtime swap! Mailing date for this one will be... get this... March 20th, the first day of Spring 2009!
Alright. Who's in?
Posts by Mama Zoe
whomever is under you... *checks* .... yep, Charlie you're making pages for Ezme.
Holy cow, Gypsie your stuff got here REALLY FAST considering you're in SC, USA and I'm in ON, CA. I think 5 days is fast, anyway... especially since 2 of those were weekend days. lol.
Anyway OMG loved allll of it. LOL Sat up on my bed and unloaded it all around me to look at hehehe... my youngest spotted the crayons right away and is currently downstairs drawing me a picture with them. My hubby goggled over the triforce wallet, too btw. LOL
Here's a pic of all the awesome stuff Gypsie sent me, in one big jumbled photo!
I can rhyme off a few things since you can't exactly pick them up and examine them - top left target bag thingies are coasters ... the brown funny-face guy is a tissue holder (and totally adorable!)... bottom right are magazine page envelopes... round colorful things are recycled crayons, and are sitting on homemade paper (!!!!).... um... there's a pencil/hook case ;)... some funktastic yarn... oh the Zelda triforce wallet! I'm totally going to put my Dungeons&Dragons membership card in that LOL geek-tastic! You can even see the top corner of the letter she wrote me at the bottom there. I think everything else is self explanatory...? Yay! Thanks Gypsie!!!!! Gonna re-use the box to send my swap stuff to Lilim when I get the $ for postage! lol.
Lilim, darl'... having $ issues... I can't send til my next paychq, ok hon? Sorries
A: That bear in the Charmin commercial invented it!
Q: Why do crickets chirp?
lol Marieke!
Sug this is such a sweet idea! I don't know that I can take part because I've gotta be preparing to move (which means doing a huge purge of STUFF... including furniture and clothes!)... and we move July 1st. But... if I find myself using all this fantastic yarn I got lately to test out some of the baby items I've found patterns for... I know what to do with them! LOL
lol... yes real life has a tendency to do this to us LOL.
I might be a little absent from time to time around here because we're also moving in July and we have to PURGE a LOT of stuff... lots of work to be done before we can move because we're moving in with friends so we have a lot of stuff we won't need, too.
But... meh... it's all good. Change is good.
lol ale...
<quote>"6 pages 5.5 in by 8.5 in (right?)."</quote>
YES lol... cuz clearly I can't divide 11 by 2... it does equal 5.5 not 4.5 *laughs*
And you can decorate both sides if you'd like to but it is 6 pieces of paper. Does that help?
A: You'd turn into a mermaid and wind up in Neverland!!! The whole second star to the right thing was just to keep away unwanted visitors, y'know.
Q: Why are cottonballs white?
ack so soon lol
Awesome
Alright... I'm thinking since there's a lot of swaps right now that we wait to mail til the end of Feb - but we can make as many pages as we want to right NOW. To spice it up and create some more variety, AND to make it so we have enough for a little book FASTER, I'm gonna make one more change - paying attention? lol: We will ALL make SIX pages (so, 3 regular sized sheets of paper cut in half - 4.5in by 8.5in, to make 6 pages), and mail SIX to your partner when the time comes.
On March 1st, we get new partners and swap again on March 31st... BUT FROM THEN ON, you will ONLY MAKE FOUR PAGES, because you will keep four of the ones you received, and send TWO of them on to the next person WITH the four that you made yourself. Every time you recieve 6, keep 4, make 4, mail 6. Make sense? I'll make a funny diagram up in the first post in a sec. LOL.
Do you guys think once a month is good enough?
I think there's 9 of us right now... we can add more people every time if more people want to join, they just join at the end of a month before we get new partners.
So there's
Me,
JessayahX,
angellina,
Nihilist,
Sug,
ale_corason,
Martha,
charlie,
Ezme and
Creativemind.
I was wrong, there's 10 of us.
Either way, to make this easy when we swap partners, you will ALWAYS be sending to the person below you! If you are at the bottom, you send to the person at the top. (i.e., Creativemind, you send to me this round) When March 1st comes and it's time to switch, I'll re-order the list and we go again. OK? Tell me if you're confused. LOL.
I have a couple of almost done things lol I'll finish 'em up.
I will email her again.
... I got a new job so I'm not around as much sorry lol. PM me if you don't see me for a while cuz it emails me to say that I have messages lol
the last thing you said was what I was going for, Sug.
Jessayah... a girl is sending her OWN book around and posted that...
If there was one about making pages to send to eachother I missed it
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!@$@&#$@%^$&@!%^@&$!%&!!!!
Should be inexpensive which... rocks my sox...
and everyone who joins will end up getting lots of unique pages that they can make a neat book or journal out of.
It would be spectacularly cool if we could keep this list going and continue this on and just keep switching partners!!!
We've started now, and new people are welcome to join once a month when we change partners.
Basically... you want to make or decorate four 5.5x8.5" sheets of paper - this way everyone gets the same size and can make a book out of all the ones they receive - ok? - that's equal to two regular 8.5x11" sheets of printer paper cut in half...(here in Canada anyway LOL), by the way.
You take your paper... you decorate it however you like... paint it with tea and bake it... draw on it, paint it with watercolors, emboss it, cross-stitch on it... whatever you want. Just try and make sure that it's able to be written on after, so that the receiver can use it in a journal!!!
HOW DOES IT WORK?:
FIRST SWAP ONLY: YOU ARE MAKING 6 PAGES TO MAIL TO YOUR FIRST PARTNER!
After the first swap, you will make only 4. You'll receive 6 pages in the mail, choose 4 to keep, and 2 to send on to your next partner. You'll then make 4 new ones, and mail those 4 sheets ALONG WITH the remaining 2 pages that were sent to you originally. Make sense?
Example:
Mary receives 6 pages from Jane. abcdef
Mary keeps 4 of those, and makes 4 new ones. (abcd) ef [ghij]
Mary mails the 4 new ones AND the leftover 2 old ones to Tina. ef+ghij
Tina receives 6 pages from Mary. efghij
Tina keeps ANY 4, and makes 4 new. (fgij) eh
Tina mails 4 new ones with 2 old ones, to Paula. eh+klmn
LOL... does my weird example help at all?
