Come behind the scenes at Deshilachado and tour Maria's study in Valencia, Spain.
When I travelled to Japan my cousin gave me a welcoming cat. I love its cute and smiling face. When the sun comes into the room it starts swinging and saying hello and this makes me feel happy.
Tell us about your space
My study is pretty big and bright. I have three tables to work: one with my computer, another one with my sewing machine and the other one to draw, cut my fabrics,...
Usually I make sewing, patchwork and embroidery projects. I love knitting, but I prefer to do it seated on my sofa by night.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I have shelves full of books (I love books) and my favorites photos, souvenirs, cards and drawings on the walls.
How do you keep organized?
I am very tidy. I keep my tools, fabrics, theads, buttons, ribbons, beads, etc,.. in drawers. I have hundreds of them on different sizes.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I place my fabrics and threads by colours, my yarns by materials (wool, cotton,...) and my tools and supplies by crafts.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
I have two old sewing machines, but they are in other rooms of my house, although I use them sometimes.
In my study I have a big embroidery I made a long time ago, when I was pregnant.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I keep my ideas on my computer and I have some folders with my patterns and drawings.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I visit a lot of blogs and websites and read books. Being with other crafters is also a source of inspiration.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
I'd like to have a big table to place my big quilts, some more space for books and a good pair of speakers for listening to music.
