I love the light as it comes pouring in the south facing window. The white painted brick combined with the steel windows, gives me the perfect back drop and brand aesthetic.
Tell us about your space
My studio is about 400 sf. It is my office and where I make and film all my projects. Some things I make in here, or if I have a long stretch of making, I'll do it in my living room. My shop with all my kits and fiber live in my basement.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I painted exposed brick white to provide this light feeling. I have a fireplace and mantle which makes me feel so cosy. All my favorite drawings and art pieces are hanging here or in my little closet alcove.
How do you keep organized?
I have hanging sweater shelves to keep all my yarn organized, and plastic bins to keep my current projects contained. My caddy is filled with all my tools - knitting needles, crochet hooks and weaving implments.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I love doing things by color and keeping the things I know I'll be doing soon close!
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
I have a fiber sculpture I made and love above my fireplace. I have a tapestry woven on grass in the corner, and I have photos of my family around my desk. I always have samples of my latest projects floating around.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I make lists for current to dos on legal pads. I keep a binder of current ideas that I want to make for the blog or my shop - these are in plastic sleeves with lists of what needs to happen for each one. I have notebooks of sketches and other ideas.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Most of my ideas come from inspiration based on materials or things I see in images or simply just feelings and colors that inspire me from nature.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
I think I would have a little more storage for current project ideas. I like to have what i need at hand so I can grab the bin I'm inspired to work on any given day. I wish my fireplace worked! I need to get a bunch of candles or something for in there. I think that's about it ! I love it so much!
