I'm white, and yes I feel bad for what my ancestors did but...I dunno, I'm not going to like apologize profusely or anything. I've always been raised on equality and treated everyone the same and tried as hard as I can to see people, not color of their skin, and I think I've done a pretty good job. But I got mad when at the Obama inauguration someone was giving a speech and said "for the whites to finally do right".
I got kind of offended, because yes there has been racism in the PAST, and yes it is still a problem, but telling the whites that they have been doing wrong isn't helping.
I mean, we just elected a black president! [well, half-black and half-white but...], so really shouldn't we get over that?

it's not our fault our ancestors were arseholes! If other people have problems with other people thats their problem, I believe in equality.

Now about religion. I'm reading Northern lights series by Phillip Pullman and it talks about the church and eve and stuff and I got so pissed off that when someone wrote the bible (the bible we know now is not the true bible) some bloke went 'uurgh we can't let women have power, they won't let us touch them!' and decided women were original sin....it just pees me off that we're blamed for the fact that we don't live in a MADE UP paradise.

I'm 1/2 native , my father is hopi/navajo , I was raised on the reservation and the government helped pay SOME of my tuition. The reason for that is I went to school (and am still continuing studies) to benefit the rez , we are working on funding for a collective to benefit the youth that are still there. If I went to school for something that couldnt benefit the rez I would have not gotten any assistance.

Going back to the "our ancestors did lots of bad things" topic, I don't think we sould try and take responsibility or make up for what they did, because it should just be about judging people as individual people, not judging them on other people in their family or their race or religion.

So yeah meybe our ancestors did a lot of bad things but that doesn't necesarily mean that all of us will. And isn't judging by race/religion EXACTLY what our ancestors did anyway?

you know what sad? Though, i hate to admit it, white people just changed races on who we pick on. frist is was native, than blacks, now Muslim/Middle Easter skinned people. AND anyone that looks that color, my dad is like half black half white and he does have like a middle eastern tone to him, and when he went to go over the USA/Canadian boarder, and they like stripped searched him, and the vechile he was in. Cause he "like a terroist" now, my dad can be pretty scary when he's mad, but seriously, my dad aint not terrorist.

According to the USA i'm related to two terroist, my dad and my grandpa (my grandpa was a Canadian that serviced in the Veitanise War on the usa side, and he can't get pention from either canadian or usa goverment, so some Dumb judge wrote terroist on his file. He's not allowed to fly anymore)

One of my close friends has started revealing her racist side... a couple of weeks ago she was like "Oh I don't want to go to uni there, it's full of black people" and last night we were watching TV and she said "He's quite fit for an Indian" :|

That native thing in canda like the stolen genarations in Australia. Kevin Rudd the priminister said sorry to them about a year ago. Aborigenal children where taken from there " uncivilised " parents and where sent to cristan schools. And now a large amout of aborigenals live in poverty.

I'm very unfamiliar with the native american tribes its very interesting though.

I have a friend who's a racist and her whole family is too. Friends at primary school (kids 10 and under) would refer to our newsagents as 'the pakki shop' which many still do, its just unnecessary. And now there's so many Polish people, the racists here dont know how to be racist to someone white. What drives me mad is people thinking that just because someone is of foreign origin it means they aren't british citizens and can't possibly have been born here or are intitled to stay!
