Come behind the scenes at Margaret's Hooks & Needles for a #KnittingNookTour and see her knitting space in Pawling, New York.

My favorite thing is my comfortable chair. One of the best investments that I ever made in my life. Saves my back etc.

Tell us about your space

75% of my work gets done sitting right in this chair. Its always slightly messy, and I have everything that I need at my fingertips. My TV is always on when I am knitting/crocheting. I have another room just to store all my "stuff", I never work in this room, its really like a big closet. I have a home office with computer, printer, scanner and everything else that I need to write instructions, answer emails, etc.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

It is my living room, so it is cosy and inviting to me. I like to always have some fresh flowers and I am surrounded by glass, so I am always looking at the beautiful outdoors.

How do you keep your projects, yarn and supplies organized?

Lots of bags, lots of shelving. I keep each project in its own bag with its own hook or needles. I have a binder next to me when I am working, I am constantly taking notes, writing down everything that I do.

Many times, I am working on more than one thing at a time, so keeping notes on each thing is essential.

Any tips & tricks for staying organising and untangled?

The only thing that I do, is when working with several colors, I keep each ball of yarn in a little bag, and keep switching bags around as I work.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

I really do not do a lot of home type things, mostly fashion. One of my all time favorites is a jacket that I recently made and has been published by Annie's. I called it Butterfly Garden. I am sending you a picture, but if you use it, you must put in a link as to where the pattern can be purchased.

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

I have a folder on my desktop that is labeled "design ideas" and I have a section in my ever present binder, where I jot down ideas and make sketches in.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I love flowers, I constantly look to my garden for inspiration and color. I also
love to look at the old masters to study the use of color.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it your dream stitching space?

I already have my three wishes, a beautiful room in my own home, a big comfortable chair, and a big screen tv, All I need to stitch away.
