Come behind the scenes at Ambs Loves Food for a #KitchenTour and see Amber's adorable kitchen in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

My favorite thing about my kitchen is all the open shelving. I have a few open shelves in the kitchen and in the open space between the kitchen and dining room. I love the look of open shelves and seeing things that were either gifts, china passed down from my Grandmas, or things I've bought for myself over the years.

Tell us about your kitchen?

My kitchen is a small space but I love that it's white and light with a small window over the sink. My kitchen opens into the dining room which gives the illusion that it's much bigger. It's always busy and there is a lot going on when my fiance and I are both cooking together. It's one of the places in our home that we love most and we love being able to cook with each other.

What have you done to make your kitchen cosy, functional, beautiful or inspiring?

I have put a lot of my personality into my kitchen to make it feel like my own with it being a rental house. I've had to be creative with limited countertop and cabinet space so I've utilized open shelving and a pipe table to create a cute little coffee bar. I've hung some of my favorite artwork that I've painted and added in a few vintage pieces to make it more cosy. I love mixing old things with new things and I think that's what makes the kitchen so much more beautiful.

How do you keep organized while cooking?

I like to keep organized by separating all my ingredients from my utensils and dishes. I work with the mindset that as soon as I am finished with something it goes straight into the sink or dishwasher to make space for whatever I need to be doing next. I have to stay organized in the kitchen to stay focused!

Any tips & tricks for organising your pantry, fridge and ingredients?

I organize my pantry and fridge by similar ingredient type. For example everything canned goes in one area, every type of pasta noodle in another, sauces in another space, baking ingredients on one shelf, and all other ingredients are clustered together. Whenever I am looking for something specific I know the vicinity of where to look and I end up finding it quickly. I think that's the best way to stay organized, you just have to keep up with it and not let it get un-organized.

Do you do a lot of cooking and what are your favourite dishes to make?

I do a lot of cooking, I make most of the meals in my house but I really enjoy it. Not only do I love cooking but I love baking when I have time as well. Some of my favorite things I like to cook are Greek Chicken Pitas, Homemade Mac n Cheese, and Mexican-American inspired dishes. A few of my favorite things I like to bake are Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies, Seven Layer Bars, and Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Dip. I really love chocolate and ice cream.

Where do you turn for new recipe ideas?

I am always looking on Pinterest for recipe inspiration. I still love cook books with beautiful pictures as well. A few of my favorites are Great Food Fast and Cooking Light. I can always find something I am in the mood for by paging through those two books.

Do you plan out your recipes for the week or do you like to be spontaneous?

I totally plan out my recipes for the week. I have a little weekly white board on the fridge where I write it all out in detail. Most of the time something changes one night and I don't always stick to the plan like I had hoped, it happens.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make this your dream kitchen?

If I had three wishes to make this my dream kitchen, I would first wish for it to be much bigger. I'd love more space to work with. My second wish would be for a white farm sink, I just love those. And my third wish would be to have wooden open shelves across the entire upper half of the kitchen. The mixture of dark wooden shelves and white cabinets is definitely the dream.
