I love how I feel and what I create when I am in it. I feel at home in here, I can create freely and am inspired here. I am surrounded by beautiful things, it is my happy place.
Tell us about your space
I am lucky to have a good space, but I do have a habit of spilling out on to the landing and I have some fabric stored in our extension down stairs too! I have two desks along one wall one of which is my dressing table/vanity and the other is my work desk. On our landing I have another desk which is where I do most of my sewing and photograph tutorials for our blog as it has amazing light. it has been a work in progress since we moved in but I am finally happy with it, although I don't think I will ever stop moving it around.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I am a person who likes to have stuff on show, otherwise I forget what supplies I have so I have a lot of open shelves. I try to make them look as cute as I can using jars and baskets to store the more decorative supplies and store the less attractive stuff in drawers. I have a large pinboard on one wall where all my favourite things go, it is always changing and evolving. I always turn to it to remind me of my favourite things. I have two super comfy chairs and blankets that keep the space cosy.
How do you keep organized?
Short answer? I don't! I am the worlds least organised person, but I am fortunate that I am surrounded by some super organised people. In my craft room it is a case of I just know where everything is because I put it there. I try to keep things on show in glass jars and open baskets so I can see things easily.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I organise a lot of my supplies by colour which helps when I am looking for things in a hurry and my label maker is my best friend!
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
Alot of the things I have made for our blog are on the shelves in my craft room, we rarely make things that we don't need to, most of them are made because we want or need them. Some of my favourite pieces are the copies of magazines that we have been published in and my scrapbook albums filled with photos of my friends and family.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
Apart from my pin board and of course Pinterest and Instagram. I also keep a sewing journal. I have actually designed and sell a version of the one I have always kept in my online shop Sew Crafty. I will normally start online then take the key elements of an idea and work on developing it in my journal before testing the idea. I have my journal on me all the time so if I get inspired I can work on it where ever I am.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Again my first port of call is usually social media, but most of my favourite ideas will come from a basic need for something that doesn't exist or does but its not pretty.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
More space! I dream of having enough space for a cutting table and to be able to store all my fabric in one place.
More light. I have a huge window but the light is south so the sun can be blinding in the summer months.
and maybe some elves to tidy it for me after me, hehe!
