I'm reading Freakonomics now.

I can't remember if I read Merick... I read lots of them in a row and then gave up, I still have one that I bought and never read, that could be Merick.

I libary only had a kiddie version so I've been lokoing around tring to find a copy without paying $20. Finally a friend lent it to me. yay.

opposites-girl> I'm reading Freakonomics now.

Freakonomics is a great book. I like books that show you the world from a slightly different angle.

I'm reading "Slaughterhouse 5" now.

please please please do not watch 'the golden compass' because it will COMPLETELY spoil what is a beautiful story kind of not for children. maybe the worst adaption ever. why did they change it from Northen Lights for usa?
And people with asbergers have a massive range of severity, some people (like my friend) completely grow out of it. they are very clever, but extremely logical and therefore have problems relating to social interaction and reading other peoples emotions e.g sarcarsm can particularly confusing for them.

I LOVE kubricks adapt. of Lolita, really want to read the book. I've just finished A Clockwork Orange, its very small, a novelette but it does genuis things with language. Again, Kubricks film is fantastic BUT it misses off the last chapter of the book...

I think my comment must have sounded a bit child like and stupid or naive...basically I kinda like the thinking of it because the good side of it is the way with maths, I'm just the opposite I like imagination rather then fact so maths seems very crippling so I'm trying to think the way he did in the book, still not finished it, I have loads of time but only do things at like 2am lol.

I was gonna buy his dark materials and I will do when I have money I think that's why I've avoided the film. It's weird how I discovered it when the film was just about to be released I think something must have sunk in subconciously from all the adverts lol

The Golden Compass ruined the book, I mean the ending? come on! I seriously doubt they will make any of the other books into films.

I really want to read Freakonomics now..it sounds like something I would enjoy. I just finished the sequal to Red Cardigan (Nine Letters Long) and started on A Child Called It...shockingly I actually bought this one.

Would anyone explain to me what slaughterhouse five is about ?

It's about a man called Billy Pilgrim who finds that he has become 'unstuck in time' and travels through moments back and forth in his life without meaning to. The 'present' Billy Pilgrim in the book is fighting in Dresden, which is where Kurt Vonnegut, the author, fought. It's a very anti-war book, but it expresses this in a really clever way that has you reflecting on more than just your opinions of war. It offers you several life mottos and really gives you a fresh view on the world at large.

It's the most beautiful thing.

oo that sounds like my kinda thing, I was looking for books to read on amazon and there were a lot of books on the plague and war that looked really interesting and I usually hate war films but like finding out about wars even if some of it is fictional. I'm really bad for thinking about stuff while im reading a book that's probably one reason why it takes me ages to read a book lol I've read some more of curious incident of the dog and I had guessed some of the plot but it's still amazing I'm only half way through hahaha

I'm back to reading Harrowing the Dragon by Patricia A McKillip because it's got 15 short stories, I skipped one story but might go back to it the rest have been alright, the way she writes stuff is annoying sometimes though!

Has anybody read http://www.amazon.co.uk/Golden-Notebook-Harper-Perennial-Classics/dp/0007247206/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211663751&sr=8-1
