I don't understand the fake plugs...

linkxthexemo - I don't understand: blue screwdriver bits??

hehe I was in a similar situation to you - I had a 15mm plug (no idea what that is in gauges) in one of my ears but about 9 years ago had to take them out for a uni interview, I never manged to get the plug back in. I also tried stretching again but an event always came up where I needed to take it out.

I still have a line where the plug used to be but don't regret it either way - I don't wish I still had it and don't think they look horrible. However I do still think they look really nice on men (your wife has good taste Happy ).

if you stretch them you cant wear normal earrings this way you can wear both and designs that wouldnt work in real ones. the real stretcheed ears get infected so easily and if you take them out you're left with an ugly hole that smells like its rotting

DizzyDisaster - Thats not true at all! I have my ears pierced 5 times (on each side), some are stretched and some are not, so i can wear normal earrings also! I can wear both.
And Real stretched ears do not get infected any easier then a regular piercing would. People that stretch their ears PROPERLY dont have gaping ugly holes or smell. And over time the holes can close-up to normal (as long as their not ginormous). The people that do have what u said, have no idea what their doing and obviously never cleaned their ears. And needs to stop stretching. lol

linkxthexemo - 00g in 3 months?! Ouch. If you ever plan on stretching again, go A LOT slower, or you will permanently damage your ears with giant/painful tears. You should wait at least 2-3 weeks between going up a size (and never skip sizes). this will allow enough time for your ears to proporly heal & not look ugly afterwards.

lol but I think men look good with them too. :p I actually know a guy who's ears are so big that he cant buy plugs anymore (they dont make them that huge!), so he has to carve & make his own. His are extremely healthy & clean tho.

Wow, DizzyDisaster, get your facts straight, NOTHING of what you said is true. You can even wear 'normal' ear jewellery with stretched lobes if you know how to do it.

I'm done stretching, 8mm each side, and I have no regrets. When people ask me if I'm "also wearing these cool fake tapers", I get annoyed and take my jewellery out & poke my finger through it. It shuts them up pretty nicely. Happy

mi.ezekatze says you ive done reseach and know many people who have had their ears stretched properly by profesinals and the holes do sink funny in most cases. and as i was told by many trained medical profesinals it greatly increases the risk of infection no matter how much you clean it.
darkash hurts same goes for you
i cant belive two of you think you know more than the proefisinals doctors and people who have done it properly, people die each year from them getting infected severly whilsh nealry no one dies from normal earings fakes are way safer healithier nicer giving you the look without infections pain damage or looking like a bogan with giant holes in your ears

Man, I wasn't going to feed the troll and reply to this, but you are spilling a lot of judgement, and just bitter attitude on this.

Here is my view. I like extensions, colored ones, I like fake nails, acrylic ones, I like fake plugs, and own them. I do not think that it is any of your business if you like, or you don't. But you seem to have some bitter like issues, seriously. It isn't that important. Just because you do it, doesn't mean everyone jumps on the train with you and acts like you.
If someone doesn't want to stretch out their ears and damage them or take on the health risks such as scarring and keloids, then wtf does it matter? If you like pink your hair one day, and blue the next, then red, it makes no sense to change it every day and it is not even something that could be done without extreme problems, like your hair falling out.

Basically, it a fashion statement or a like of someone else, and you may dress certain ways and do things that they just look at you and think, wtf is she doing?
Don't throw stones in glass houses. I sound angry, because I hate people who act so bitter and judgemental on the way someone dresses, or chooses in their style. That's MY OPINION.

Honestly in this day and age I don't think anyone can point fingers at someone else for being fake XD High heels make us taller, make-up can change our face, wearing push up/shaping/support bra's make us perky, hair treatments can change our texture and color, we have contacts, we paint our nails, we're all pretty 'fake' in some way or another so I never really see a point in judging anyone else.

Good heavens. DizzyDisaster, please go and tell your uhm... 'profesinals' the following:
a)plugs may 'stink' when they are not cleaned daily, which is a given for any person with common sense. Likewise does any other piercing, especially if the jewellery is made of steel.
b) there is NO reason why a stretched lobe - when done correctly - should cause a higher risk of infection than a perfectly normal earring. If I'm mistaken, I'd be really, r-e-a-l-l-y curious about the reasons.
c) a healed stretching could only get infected when the new skin is broken for some reason - something that could just as easily happen with normal earrings too.
d) I'm part of the bodymodification scene and have NEVER heard of ANYONE who died from a "plug infection". It's the most riddiculous thing I've heard all week.
e) in case you didn't make your research up to 'prove' your point, please also tell your professionals that they're full of crap and that they should prettyplease get their knowledge straight. Because I do in fact obviously know better than the people you talked to.

I've stretched my lobes on my own. They healed perfectly. I clean them every day. So do the about 70% of my friends who also have stretched lobes.

Mi.eze out, I think I've made my point.

don´t want to add fuel to the fire, but as a proud owner of four intact and "ready to go to normal when jewelry is gone" stretched earlobes i can only support miezekatze´s opinion.
There´s a significant difference between professionals of medicine, phds and all people you mentioned, Dizzy, and a professional piercer! To go to a doctor for a piercing is the worst thing you could do because they know nothing about the process at all, they did not study "piercing", some declare bodymodification as something wrong, something unnecessarily done to the human body hence they will judge in a totally different way. If you want another, more concrete point: placement and jewelry issues, i´ve seen some people that went from a doctor straight to my piercer in hope she can rescue the disaster the doctor called piercing!
To complete this, don´t do it if you don´t like it, be open for other opinions.

Very true So Lala, I once went to the doctors for an infected piercing ( I was 14 and clueless) and he basically just told me he could not help me and to go to the piercer, which I did got some solution and it was sorted within a few weeks.

There is a risk with all piercings - even just your lobe but to be honest I've heard of a lot more people having problems with piercings than stretched ears.

Tasha, I totally agree. I tend to think that a stretched lobe takes more consideration, commitment and care than 'just' a piercing. Getting a piercing is quick and some people make their decision about it in a split second (*harrumphs* my nose piercing was one of those decisions ^^) but since stretching is a slow process, we care more. Thus we have less issues with those. Does that make sense to anyone? Tongue
I've gone through... 4 piercers in my time, some were good, some weren't, but I'd NEVER go to a doctor to get a piercing.

I started stretching my left lobe to 8mm when I was.... uhm..... 19 I guess and I took it very, very slow, leaving almost a month in between every step. The right one was a bit quicker but it's also healed just fine.
And by the way, my kids (I'm a 5th grade teacher) LOVE them and keep asking me about them. Gotta adore kids for not being as judgemental as the rest of the world *sigh*

haha Mi Ezekatze, my nose piercing took 10 years of thinking!! Finally got it done 2 years ago - I was a bit worried as I wanted to have a career in business and thought it might get in the way. Luckily I landed a job where they value your work more than how you look so it doesnt matter. Applying for a new job within the organisation in another department where I think the manager isn't quite as laid back though so I guess I'll have to take it out for the interview.
I really wish people wouldn't judge others on how they look and the music they listen to, it's really starting to piss me off!! Back when I was 15/16 I can remember telling my stepdad that I wanted to study international management, he basically laughed in my face as I had blue hair, a plug and plenty piercings, saying that I would never make it. 10 years on I have studied at 2 of the best business schools in the world and got the job I was hoping for in the first place.

PS: Loving the fact the kids love them I've just got these visions of "miss, why do you have big holes in your ears?"
