I'm just starting to learn basic knitting skills and am having some troubles. Can anybody suggest things that make it easier to learn to knit? I already know how to cast on, but I need more help with the other basics. By the way, what size of needles is it easiest to learn...

I'm trying to learn how to knit and can't seem to figure out the difference between a knit stitch and a garter stitch: they look exactly the same. What's the difference? And can anybody recommend any good videos for learning these stitches?

When I try to make granny squares they never turn out square I follow the instructions correctly as far as I know, sometimes it goes a bit square but when I do more it loses its shape.

I'm making myself a scarf and the wool i'm using is 25% wool 75% acrylic. I've crocheted a bit of it then tested it on my neck and it seems a little rough on my skin. Is there any technique i can use to soften it without ruining it??
