Need some Crochet Ideas!

Hey Everybody! I'm in a bit of a pickle, I'm making a gift for my roomate in college and I'm crocheting her a cozy scarf or hat because we go to school in the mountains.
My problem is, I asked her what colors she'd prefer, and all she told me was that bright colors make her happy and dark colors make her relaxed.

Can anyone suggest some generic/pleasing colors or a color for a hat and scarf? If you had to knit or crochet a scarf for a total stranger, what colors do you think would be a good bet?

Purple, gray, blues, maybe her eye color or a color complimenting her hair. Hope I helped Tongue

I would say use a multi-colored yarn! That way you can get both the bright and dark colors all in one. Sometimes, Walmart will have really soft cotton yarn that comes in a lot of different colors... I would check there first since it's not only soft, good yarn, but it's inexpensive as well.
