yarn made from blankets

I have 3 balls of yarn made from recycling blankets. I hope to make some sort of basket, possibly for a pet or for storage.
Has anyone any patterns that they have used with this blanket yarn?
Any hook/needle that they recommend?
I'm thinking big like 25mms.
I will probably adapt a t shirt pattern and use one of my pet bed patterns.

Gorgeous yarn! I've made a few crochet pots, bowls and so on; I'd recommend heading over to ravelry and searching their patterns. Many of them are free and there's everything from simple to complex. Happy making! Tongue

thank you Helen W. I am indeed a fan of Ravelry .

Emily I found the balls in a second hand shop , I have since cut the red tartan yarn down the middle and so have now double the quantity and a much more manageable yarn.
