How did you get started?
My then boyfriend (now husband) Joshua, flew me to New York and proposed and whisked me away to all the glorious chocolate shops in Manhattan! We fell in love with the concept of an upscale chocolate boutique and decided that is where we would concentrate our culinary efforts. As classically trained savory chefs, we threw ourselves into the world of chocolate and have never looked back.
Where are you located?
We’re located in the historic neighborhood of Tremont in Cleveland, Ohio right on the corner of Starkweather Ave and Professor Ave near St. Theodosious Russian Orthodox Church.
What are your specialities?
We specialize in all things delicious!! We handcraft truffles, chocolate bars, chocolate bark and other confections. We also happen to have the super power of pairing it all with craft beer & fine wine! Booze & chocolate, how what’s not to like?
What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?
My personal favorite truffle we make is the “Frou Frou”! She’s a white chocolate truffle filled with a bright, fresh ganache made of blood orange juice, passion fruit & organic orange liqueur. It’s like sunshine in your mouth! Josh’s favorite is the “Half Past Midnite” truffle. He’s a dark chocolate truffle filled with hazelnut praline, cinnamon, coffee infusion and feuilletine crunch.
What's on the stereo?
It depends on who’s working! If it’s my hubby, it’s most likely Jam On or the Grateful Dead channel on XM. I’m more into Country & Pop, with Jazz and Blues mixed in. You’ll more than likely catch one of us signing to whatever is on!
Where else should we visit in your area?
Tremont has a lot of great restaurants & art galleries to wow your tastebuds and your eyeballs. We love Parallax for sushi & Barrio for Green Goddess Steak Tacos, A Cookie & A Cupcake for their awesome ice cream (milk chocolate passion fruit caramel, anyone?!) and Dante Next Door for The Bianca pizza. Stop by Banyan Tree & April Snow for awesome local housewares, clothes and gift goodness and indulge your uber girly side at Evie Lou for all things comfy cozy (clothes, shoes, accessories, happiness)!
Do you host any special events?
Every month we do special tasting events here in the shop! We bring in breweries, wine makers and other local culinary experts to collaborate with. We pair 4 booze goodies with 4 truffles and make a lovely evening out of it! The theme changes every time…We just did one with Revolution Brewing and created 4 Limited Edition Caramels to pair with their Deep Wood Series beers and we have one coming up with A Cookie & A Cupcake with beers & meads that mimic dessert! Is there anything else you'd like us to know?
We love corgis and our sweet little boy, Gibson is the center of our universe. Also, chocolate makes the best appetizer. and entree. and dessert. just so you know. *wink*
