Cook Salmon Cakes, 3 Cheese Hash Browns and a Spinach Dip in #ABiteToEat with Peacock Alley in Bismarck, North Dakota.

How did you get started?

The Peacock Alley opened in 1933 right after prohibition ended. In 2010 Dale left a demanding job as a traveling executive and with his wife, Melodie, bought the Peacock Alley. They focus now on their business, family and community.

Where are you located?

In the lobby of the historic Patterson Building in downtown Bismarck.

What are your specialities?

1) Beef. Winners of the 2012 Beef Backer Award, we pride ourselves on unique cuts of beef.

2) Fresh, Local Ingredients. Whenever possible we use fresh local ingredients. Every month Chef Dusty creates a selection of entrees highlighting local seasonal ingredients.

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

It’s what’s off the menu that matters. Our signature steak is a bone-in French cut ribeye. We call it the Cowboy Ribeye. Top it with Chef Dusty’s maple bourbon sauce and a side of three cheese hash browns, and you’ll have an unforgettable meal. Everyone knows the Cowboy Ribeye, but you won’t find it on our menu.

What's on the stereo?

In our martini bar we play contemporary music, but it isn’t always easy to hear above the crowd on a Friday night. In the dining room you’ll hear a wide range of soft rock and pop.

Where else should we visit in your area?

40 Steak + Seafood. They are the only restaurant in North Dakota that dry ages their own beef. They also offer fresh never frozen fish from around the world.

Do you host any special events?

The Peacock Alley is very active in the community. We host The Legislature Today a live radio broadcast every legislative session, participate in an art and wine walk, an annual German Days celebration, and an annual Street Fair among other local events.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

Bismarck is an energetic, youthful growing city. We are proud and privileged to be right in the center of it.
