How To Tie A Silk Scarf
Learn how-to tie a silk scarf with #DIYFashionista Lindsey from Have Clothes, Will Travel:
How would you describe your style?
My style is a bit hard to describe...it's a little bit of everything. There are some days I deck myself out in head to toe vintage inspired clothing, and the next day I'm rocking tight pants and a leather jacket, and the next I’m wearing a Star Wars t-shirt dress and galaxy leggings or a sweatshirt.
What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?
Oooh, that's a tough one. But I would have to say my Kate Spade bag is my favorite at the moment. I use it nearly daily, and it really adds an extra little sparkle to every outfit. Plus, it goes with everything!
Who are your style icons?
Also a tough one, as I wouldn't necessarily say I have traditional style icons. I could say Audrey Hepburn, as I do admire her classic and timeless style. However, the majority of my style icons are bloggers I follow or friends and family who march to their own beat in the style department. I draw inspiration from those I interact with daily or photos I see on social media. But I can't say I really have the traditional style icons, such as celebrities or models.
Do you have any favourite designers?
I love the timelessness of Caroline Herrera's collections. I'm also a big fan of Manhattan-based designer, Yuna Yang. And I've recently become infatuated with Sydney-based designer Krystal Davis, who created IXIAH.
Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes?
ModCloth is hands down my favorite. I seriously want the entire site. Any time I need a new dress, pair of heels, jeans, sunglasses, coat - you name it...I logon to ModCloth. That site takes my entire shopping budget! Haha.
Do you make or customise your outfits?
I am not terribly crafty in the sense that I sew my own outfits, but I always try to customize an outfit to my unique, all over the place, sense of style. Whether it's a quirky brooch, a novelty purse or a scarf with a unique print, I'm all about having fun accessories to really make an outfit "me."
Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?
Most of my time is spent living out of a suitcase, so having a handful of versatile accessories can take the same outfit and make it look brand new. I'm a fan of scarves (as you can tell), they can really add to an outfit (and don't take up any room in a suitcase). Plus, you can style them in so many different ways!
Which other fashion blogs do you love to read?
I have so many favorite fashion blogs...oh gosh, now I'm worried I'll forget someone! But these are the blogs I have been following for a long time and find myself reading on a daily basis: Kara from The Dressed Aesthetic, Jen from Dressing With Class, Lee from Lee Thrifts, Amanda of Enchanting Elegance, Lauren from Grace Rock Kelly Roll, Laurie of Happy as a Lark and Mona of Curls & Cakes.
