Love Witch Tarot Card Tote Bag
Make a Love Witch Tarot Card Tote Bag with #DIYFashionistas Aubrey & Crystal from Weekday Slumber Party Club.
How would you describe your style?
Aubrey: I would describe my wardrobe as a mix of all of the Spice Girls. Right now I find I'm gravitating toward a lot of all black and all pink outfits that are sleek and solid. I also love shopping for vintage pieces with big, bold prints and every outfit is paired with a different hair style.
Crystal: I would categorize my outfit style as Costume Casual. It's usually a mix of Space Cowgirl, Pastel Kawaii and Spooky Cute. I refuse to wear a shoe without a platform or a heel, and I love shopping in the kids and costume sections because the color and style options are always more fun, (and it's usually a little bit cheaper too!)
We both tend to choose gold or pastel accessories with ankle boots and a statement bag.
What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?
How can we pick just one?!
Crystal: I don't like wearing the same outfit twice if I can help it, because it's like a fun challenge to put together something new everyday with the same pieces. But- I think if I had to pick just one, it would be my light denim jacket with hand-sewn patches that I've picked up as souvenirs from fun places I've visited.
Aubrey: I'm the complete opposite. I find an outfit that I feel good in and I wear it out! I don't have one favorite piece, but I would say that any of my vintage dresses are my prized clothing possessions. My current favorite accessory piece is a gold necklace of a dagger and thistles.
Who are your style icons?
We both find style inspiration in everything! Some favorites that we share are- The Spice Girls, Drag Queens, Disney Parks, Vintage Pin Ups and Movies with great fashion like The Craft, Jawbreaker, Clueless, Party Girl, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Marie Antoinette.
Crystal: RuPaul Charles, PeeWee's (entire) Playhouse, Fran Drescher, Peg Bundy, Hollywood Horror Monsters, Tokyo Street Fashion,
Aubrey: Lucille Ball, Jenny Lewis, Dolly Parton, Old Hollywood and Horror Movie Starlets, The Kardashians, Theater Costumery
Do you have any favourite designers?
Crystal: I'm more inspired by the style than the designer- and I hate paying designer prices! I'd rather get inspired by a pricey piece and make something that I love more myself.
Aubrey: More than any one designer, I just love seeking out specific pieces that I'm inspired by in daily life.
Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes?
Unique Vintage, Pin Up Girl Clothing, Urban Outfitters, Anthropology, Nastygal, Shein, H&M, Forever 21, Target, Vintage stores, Thrift shops and Halloween stores
Do you make or customise your outfits?
Yes! We make/customize 50% of our wardrobe. We plan to continue to keep expanding our skills!
Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?
Crystal: I usually pick one item that I want to wear and then base the rest of the outfit around that piece. I have a ton of fashion rules for myself that are ever changing, ie. I'll never wear brown with yellow, it reminds me of a toilet!
Aubrey: Accessories and a cute hairstyle will instantly make any outfit fun! For me, less is more when it comes to accessories, for example, if I'm wearing long earrings I'll nix the necklace or try a choker, but if I'm wearing a long necklace I'll go for stud earrings instead. Also, lots of hairspray! You won't find me out with a hair out of place.
Which other fashion blogs do you love to read?
