Guinea pig plushie
Does anyone have a tutorial on how to make a guinea pig plushie?
On a different note: what is felting and why do people do it/use it. and what is this shrinky dink i keep reading about?
I've always thought "fat bunny" (tute on this site) would make a cute guinea pig with it's ears shortened!
Shrinky Dink- lol its ah-mazing stuff! I remeber my mom buy tons of it for me when I was younger. but since getting older, its become hard to find (alteast in the US) anyway its a think sheet of plastic thats the size of regular printer paper. Anyway you draw on it, or sometimes you can buy them with cute themes already on it, like cartoon caracters or different holidays. So you draw or color on it then cut out your pictures and put on a baking sheet and bake in the over for just a few mins. It kinda shrinks, crinkles up and almost looks like its ruined and at the last second flattens out! and its something like 1/3 of the the size it was before going into the oven!
Its great for kids because its happens quick and they love watching it! But adults have found tons of great things to do with it. Like if you punch a hole in it before baking, you can make charms! Thats what I love doing with it, because and charm I see that I like I can now make for myself!
A great new idea thats come from recycling is that you can use plastics with the #6 on them for shrinky dinks instead of having to buy the special paper (or like me, having to order it online)
With the recycled plastic all you do is cut out the good flat parts you can use, and then rough it up really good with sandpaper. Then its ready to be drawn on and baked like reg skinky dinks!
There are a few good projects that tell you how to use your own recycled plastic, the one I can think of off the top of my head is the "unlucky charm" bracelet
Hope that made sence!
Felting is the process of making your own felt from wool fibre, there are 2 techinique, one called needle felting which can make 3d sculputal pieces which i havent tried and wet felting which by layering the wool fibre and bonding it using hot water and soap which brings the fibres together to a fabric which i have tried and enjoyed it.
Also a knitted item done with wool yarn when washed gets felted like how a wet woollen jumper shrinks in the wash and is cool.
thanks for the info! I really want to get some shrinky dink to try it.
Also i must try felting, I read on a tute to use shampoo/dishwashing fluid in the washing machine, wouldn't that make a lot of bubbles?
I'm going to go look at the fat bunny now
I was at hobbycraft and found something called Shrink Art Shrinkies which seems to be shrinkydink! I'm excited to try it
Shrinkie are good go for it!!!!!!!!!
I can't ever find the #6 on plastics! What foods are usually held in them?
I love shrink dinks and felting.if you do a search online you will find a lot about both.I bought my first marino wool from hobby lobby, and my shinky dink material to.I also got shrink dink that you put in your printer and can cut it out..its really great fun, you can do family pic for key chains and such.
