Fixing Fitted Sheets

Hey! So, I saw a great project earlier that took a children's comforter and made it big-person sized to fit adult beds, and I thought, hey, I want to do that! There's a great matching sheet set for the character I love that I would absolutely die to have, but there's a small hurdle... I want to use the sheets in my college dorm, where the beds are at least a full 5" longer than a standard twin size bed.

I was really desperately hoping that someone would have a thought as to how to "fix" the fitted sheet to fit the bed I have at school. I'm certainly willing to experiment, but if anyone has tried it before, I'd rather learn from your experience, in case I accidentally destroy the sheets >< (by the way, it's Wall-E themed <3)

I read this last night and have ben thinking about it all day, lol. The solution I have come up with would be to buy a corrdinating fabric.

Then mark and cut off the sheet where it is just the part that goes down each side of the bed. So now you have something that looks like another flat sheet. Then measure and cut your new fabric into strips that will be sewn on to the cuts you just made on your sheet. Make sure you measure so they will be long enough to fit your larger bed. Sew them on to your sheet, and hem. Then finish off by adding your elactic to the corners Happy

What you will end up with would be your Wall-E sheet with a colored boarder... That fits your bed! My mom did something like this for my scooby do sheets that I took to my high school summer college where we live in the dorms and took classes at the university! I am positive it would work, just depends on how confident you are with your own sewing skills. And allllways measure twice, cut once! lol

Hope that helps a bit!
