Mm I've heard the Jorvik centre is crap to be honest =( I want to go to the Dungeons, but I suffer from panic attacks, which are set off by the dark and people jumping out at me. So probably not a good idea!

We're thinking if we do it during Fresher's week there will be new blood there with money that we can sell stuff to. And we're gonna do discount schemes, like 10% off if you're wearing DMs, and stuff like that.

You should let me know when you come to York next, we can go to Evil Eye for a lovely but very expensive drink!

Yeah, there's a lot of alternative people in York, but not much that caters to them. There's a weekly night which is pretty good, and a monthly one that I'm going to tonight, but no decent gig venues. I've only found three alternative shops in York and two of them are more emo than anything else, so we're hoping we can get in some steampunks and people like that.

Maybe Leeds, but we were thinking we'd try it out in York first, as it's probably more expensive.

Me and my friend are planning on getting a market stall in September to sell handmade items. I was wondering if anyone had any helpful suggestions?

We're looking into the permits we need, and found out it costs between £12 and £24 a day to have a stall in the market in York. We're thinking we'll do it during Fresher's week and target Freshers so clothes and jewellery will probably be the main thing. We're going to go with an alternative angle because there is a huge alternative market in York but not many shops, and we know a lot of the clubs and that so can try to flyer there. We're also thinking about selling local band merchandise, and tshirts with the university names on. Hopefully, if it goes well, we will do it again at Christmas but with some more expensive stock and more craft oriented.

I like the idea of a little embroidered pillow or something...

I've just made some embroidered buttons (just with the Rammstein logo) and now I'm thinking I could send some with little treble clefs on to Kathy. I don't know what she'd do with them but it'd be kinda cute.

Haha that's alright, it's my fault for not being imaginative enough =P

My boss is a woman. I can't really get her jewellery, she's ridiculously rich and wears all like pearls and diamonds and stuff. I don't have enough money for the stuff she'd like. I might just make her an embroidered card, if I can find a good image to go on the front (quick, to Urban Threads!)

I'm gonna do an embroidered card for Kathy, but I want to put a little music-related present inside - just like a silly little thing. I might go check out the music shops in town.

As for my brother...god knows, he's a mystery.

And mamatwitch, that sounds easy, I have made wrist warmers as presents before, just trying to think if any of those people would want them. Maybe Graham. Umm I can embroider and sew - but only hand-sew, I don't have a machine - I can knit a bit, make jewellery, stencil, customise clothes, bake...hmm that sounds a bit dull. I was thinking of making rocky road for some people, as Andy wants some for Valentine's Day (so selfish, making me make him something I can't eat!) but I'm not sure how well it'll send.

That's not a bad idea, but I'm actually not great at knitting =P my name is deceptive!

What I've got coming up to send:
A farewell card for my boss who's retiring and selling the shop
    My friend Anna's birthday
    My brother's birthday
    A happy gram
My ex-boyfriend's mum is celebrating 25 years as organist at her church
    My friend Graham's birthday.

    Along with Valentine's day stuff!

I'm at uni now and don't have a lot of money, but want to be able to send out presents to my friends back at home and at other universities. I want to make something but it needs to be small so it isn't expensive to send, and not expensive to make, but either something which everyone would like or I could personalise.

    Any ideas would be great!

What I use is Dylon fabric paint, it comes in little pots and is quite runny so just like a normal paint, doesn't puff or anything. I'd advise that over spraying, and it'll stay well (I messed up a tshirt for my brother so put it in the wash to get the paint on as I hadn't fixed it yet, and the bugger didn't come off!)

I made my friend Stevie a Bjork tshirt with the Debut cover on it, he was SO excited! Was like running round the room and showing it to everyone haha, and insisting I couldn't have made it. Made me happy! And I gave my friend a Big Bang tshirt (her favourite band) and she loved it apparently, she only opened it when I wasn't there. Giving Andy his presents tomorrow, hope he likes them!

Yeah I had problems with my latest project - it would let me add a few things, then when I searched them it'd come up with the list and ask me about how many I needed and stuff but wouldn't appear in the box itself. And when I refreshed the page, it wouldn't even let me go beyond "search"

Haha I found if you get someone of a similar size to help it's good =) like I needed a tshirt for Stevie so I got Andy to try it on and see if it's too big. Unfortunately it was, gonna have to fork out some more money now for one that fits better =(

I've made Andy a Middlesbrough cushion and bought Homicide - A Year On The Killing Streets because he likes the wire. That with the Opeth necklace and Jack Daniels poker set should go down fairly well =)

I found in Sainbury's a Jack Daniel's poker set for £8 so I might get that. It comes with a little bottle of Jack, some Jack Daniels playing cards and the poker chips (which I think are undecorated.) I was thinking about decorating the chips but that'll take FOREVER, so I might just buy it. And then make him a tshirt and I'll be done =) (spending so much money this week)
