Anyone else hate christmas?
we have boxing day in Canada..same thing I think
its a day after thanksgiving and every thing is for sale at the stores people go and stand in line at 12 in the morning the lines are so long last year someone actually died from people steppin on them.. well i think they died if not they got pretty hurt.. its crazy but were going this year
I think you have courage to write this, especially if you thought that it was just you with this view.
There are some aspects of Christmas that I LOVE:
* The songs
* The funnily tacky Christmas accessories
* Making kids happy
etc
But there are aspects of Christmas that I HATE:
* The commercialisation
* The pressure from others - This year me, my sister & my mum have decided not to get eachother presants, because we don't need any more material stuff plus none of us can afford it - yet everyone else is like "what are you getting your mum?" and I'm like "Nothing" and told them about our agreement. People seem to think we are mad!!
* The only things I like about giving presants are for the kids - making them happy and getting them excited about Santa. Also I like MAKING presants because it's giving someone something but not having to go out and buy crap, and recycling things - stuff I don't want anymore!!
"Iiiiiiiiii'm dreaming of a recyyyyyycled Christmas!!"
LOL
I think I've lost the plot!!
I don't think I would want to go
yes someone did die last year, it was a security guard at walmart- people broke the doors down and he got stuck- it's horrific! I never go. and this year i am making gifts. my sister already told me she went overboard buying gifts for my kids. i didn't say anything but all i made her son was a crayon holder and a crocheted toy!
i think SOME (and i do mean some, don't want to offend) people who hate Christmas are people who were raised celebrating it the wrong way. As a believer in Christ I was raised knowing the real reason for the holiday so i have no conception of the greed or materialism that goes with it. I really think it is wrong the way the american culture has commercialized the holiday to a point that non-christians feel "guilted" into celebrating it. I'm really glad that you guys can find other ways to celebrate at this time of the year (fossil hunting sounds sooooo cool!) I mean, i ust loath it when people bug me about valentines day, lol and that's a small holiday, so I can't believe what it's like for others around Christmas.
I'm Wiccan, so Yule is actually a holiday for me, which makes it worse in a lot of ways - because all I want to do is celebrate my religious holiday, and instead I'm forced into celebrating another. I mean, none of my family are Christians, so it's not like I'm made to go to church or anything. I just mean that for me, a religious holiday is a time I like to reflect and take some time out for myself, but I'm not allowed.
Oh I just checked my bank balance and I'm SO low on money, not quite sure how I'm gonna afford to even make presents this year.
well think of yourself first, if you don't have enough money to do it, then don't. You need to spend that money on food
I know I just hate letting people down =( I might make coasters, that's quite cheap.
Ummm...my whole family is getting homemade gifts. I've had SOOO many ideas since I've joined this site, I really don't think I'll have to spend much of anything b/c it's all already in my house!
And as far as that poor man dying, that's sickening. Around where I live ppl fight and steal out of each others carts, that's why I always recommend to bring a big dude with you. One year I caught an old lady taking stuff out of my cart and putting it in hers. I remember yelling at her like ," Get outta there, Slowly step away from the cart..." Then I knocked her down and stole her cart...mohoohhohahaha. Just kidding about the last part, but I did have to yell out her.. "NO, bad old lady".
people are just insane, just imange working on that day! Crazy
We heard about the death over here in Australia, it's insane. I'm always on the lookout for a bargain but never at the expense of someone's life. We are like Canada and have Boxing Day Sales here, the day after Christmas. It's freaking CHAOS!!!!! I've only been once and for my own sanity would never ever ever in a billion years go again.
I worked it once, and NEVER EVER AGAIN! ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH
Oh god, that'd be horrible. The month after Christmas sucks in retail, everyone is trying to return things!
I know, its funny when they think they can return something but can't, like inderwear
I can't believe so many people have commented on this. Its cool and quite a relief that people do understand and others don't like it.
