big shopping experience (not a nice one either)

So I'm a bigger gal and whilst usually I don't care about what others think of my looks wise its just gotten
to me recently and I think its due to my own anxiety issues (I suffer chronic agoraphobia) however usually when
I go out shopping I don't care about the sly looks some shop staff give me, or even if some guys call out fat
arse to me, I usually ignore it.

However this one takes the cake, I was in a store today and they do have clothing up to 16-18 and the lady was
ignoring me until I asked her to help me find the right size top. Now with agoraphobia its a big step for me
even to go out to new places, especially a lone. I hate being in busy environments so I was already stressed
and anxious.

Anyways the lady looks me up and down and says "I don't think this store will have anything that will suit you
dear why don't you try Kmart I'm sure they'll have much more of a range"

I was like what? and then she went and busied herself pretending to work on the computer whilst I looked at her
dumbly.

So here's the thing sure I'm bigger, but I wouldn't exactly call myself obese, I'm a size 18, and 172 cm, most people
would call me curvy.

I glared at the women and told her her manager will be hearing from me as I was outraged by such rude comments and she just shrugged her shoulders and I walked out.

So its not as if I'm wondering if I'm fat but its just like well sure if I'm bigger than the next person why do we have to be treated differently?

Geez, what a bitch. Report her, if the store has a head office complain to them, write/email a local paper. I'm sure you could get a lot of support.

Definitely complain. She can't talk to you like that. At the very least she's refusing to serve you when they have clothes your size in there! I used to work in a plus-sized clothes store, we stocked sizes 16 - 32 and we had so many women coming in saying they just wouldn't get helped in any other shop, it's ridiculous.

You should have reported her right then and there before you left, asked for her supervisor on the spot. Doesn't matter what your size is, her job is to help you not insult you. I'm sorry, I would have shown my arse!!!

wow i'm sorry, that's awful! maybe if you make a big stink about it they will send you a gift certificate!
i would have done more then just walk out! i wear the same size and if someone had said that to me I would have gone crazy on them!
she not only insulted a customer, she lost business for her company- her manager definatly needs to know!

I called the manager today and talked to her and she actually told me that that lady has had several women complain to her
about her attitude.

She wants me to come into the store so I can talk to her personally, I'm nervous cause I've never done anything like this before

so wish me luck and hopefully she's a lot nicer

well I spoke to the manager and she was ok about it, in that fake kind of way I guess

she gave me a $50 gift card

my fiancee came with me for support and he's a big guy too so I think maybe she was intimidated lol

but she said she was terribly sorry and that she hopes that the comment didn't affect my opinion of the
brand blah blah

I'm like well I probably wont be shopping here again as I told her I suffer from an anxiety disorder so its hard
for me to go out anywhere at best.

But I'm happy enough with the outcome.
