not to get outa subject or anything but how old are you guys?

I'm 19 (uuuurgh I'm 20 this year scaaary)

I've had my ears done with a gun every time and really it is actually safter and hygenic to get it done with a needle and at somewhere like a tattoo/piercing studio. Which I actually believe, I've had my ears done loads and i have only the first peircings in because they're the only ear related ones that have gone well. If I get my seconds done again I'm having needles. The guns have never hurt just make me jump, they always did it like a person on each side. With needles they steralise them completely, some might even throw used ones out. Like Laura said guns are mostly plastic, it's like using the same ear bud as someone else!

If someone comes at you with one of those guns for any other peircing than ears then get the hell out of there! Oh yeh and with tatts make sure they're using a needle that they took out of a packet and throw away after they've used it.

I did a lot of research when I was going to get my ear pierced cause I was really nervous after last time. With the gun, it's basically just ramming a blunt object through your ear really fast. Which doesn't sound nice to me. And also, because they're using the piercing to pierce you with, the hole is exactly the same size as the earring, which is bad because it needs room to swell up. If you get it with a needle, the whole is slightly bigger. And yeah, needles should be disposable - out of a packet, sterilised, then thrown away.

Having said all this, plenty of people get it done with a gun and it's fine. Just that technically, it's safer with a needle. Although a lot more expensive!

I've both my ears pierced twice (first ones were done with a gun, second ones I did myself when I was fifteen and stupid), and my lip pierced. I have two tattoo pieces planned, but they have to wait until I have the money mirrored decreases (ssk and k2tog) will eventually be on my shoulders, one on each, and tied eighth notes and the pi symbol will be behind my right and left ears, respectively.

I want to get a barcode tattooed behind my ear but I wasn't sure it was possible to get it there

you can get tattooed pretty much anywhere, really.

the downsides to behind the ear as far as I know are that it tends to flare out/fade quicker, and the fact that there's a tattoo machine working right behind your ear, which is apparently very strange.

some places won't do tatts in certain places, dunno why really.

I want a little earth on my inner left wrist towards the right, an egyption owl hyrogliph on my right wrist more towards the left of the inner wrist, and a sagittarius bow and arrow with things trailing off on my back.

It's good to do research, people trust piercers and tattooists far too much, and sometimes this is taken advantage of.

And Chelsea I never answered your question SORRY! No there is no mark it was only in for a month so it hadn't even healed properly and left a tiny scar for a bit that has now disappeared.

Me and my boyfriend are celebrating 10 years together this month and I really want to get a tattoo to celebrate it. I was doodling and thought that 10 rings like when you cut into a tree would be pretty cool. Oblong rings, some thick some thin, starting small in the middle and getting bigger as they go out. Then we could add one every year, or get one more every 10 years or so!
Don't think we will have the cash to do it, but I still want to get it some time, I just think it sounds like a nice way to celebrate our love and not be too obvious..

I've got fifteen piercings...5 in each ear (in the process of regauging haha), nose, tongue (gauged, at an 8 currently), one lip piercing (had two, took the other one out a few months ago)...and the last two are kinda obvious, but I'm not sure if it would be rude to bluntly say where they are...so I'll just leave it at that.

Three tattoos...praying hands on my upper arm, and flames on each foot.

My boyfriends sis and her husband have some of THE lamest tats I have ever seen. No thought whatsoever in them.

my dad has typical 80s/90s military type tatts, including one that says 'mum and dad' and he used to have my mums name on a scroll over a heart that is now a really poor cover up of a silluette of a bull. A friend as her boyfriends name in tiny writing on her ankle with love in chinese above it. Some people probably think that my fairy is a bit generic and unoriginal but I really do have a passion for all things magical and I designed it myself sooo. So basically your idea is lovely!

i have my ears pierced and had my nose and labrette done before! i would like to get my nose done again as i miss it! i didn't suit the labrette ! i would like to have a tatoo but i just can't decide what to get and also how it would look on my body i don't know which part of me i would get it on although i think a place that can be hidden maybe the sole of my foot! but im not sure if i would ever get one if i did it would have to be designed for me or by me just for me! and it would probably be a spontaneous occurrence like my piercings were.

i really like girls with loads of funky tattoo's up there arms i would like that but not forever! it's a hard one

I would look so pathetic with tatts all up my arms. It's easy to hide tattoos in other places not just on the sole of your foot, most places wont do tatts on the soles of feet they take aaaages to heal and are in a lot of heat down there. I just think if you get one get it some where thats easy to show off but easy to hide.

Also they rub off the soles of your feet. But a lot of places will do soles of feet and palms of hands cheaper; they know it won't last long, it'll hurt a lot, and it's also such a novelty that they like doing it. I want one like...upper outside thigh. So only really visible in underwear (or out of underwear, whatever the case may be)
