party decorations...help!
well, for my 18th im doing fancy dress alice in wonderland party. i want to see how much of the decorations i can make myself to save money and just an excuse to go creative! also thought would be more unique. however, kinda stuck on ideas of what to make! the one thing so far that i've thought of doing is using the 'floating hearts' project and do it with playing cards instead. another idea was to make some origami roses and then partly paint them red...but so far it's just an idea becuase i'm not great at origami and trying to find a tutorial i can actually succesfully follow. any tips/advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
Garlands made of playing cards on string are an obvious choice. However, what about bunches of red roses (paper maybe?) with a few white roses doted about half painted red?
Also how about crepe-paper topiary, and flamingoes and hedgehogs (the latter could be made of wool like pom-poms, the former painted/printed onto card)
ooh good idea. thanks. party is a lot closer now though so unfortunately dont think i have enough time to do as much as wanted so just sticking to playing card garlands. thanks for ideas anyway!
You could make little mad hatter hats out of toilet roll tubes. Just stick a bigger circle on half a tube. Stretch some fabic over and secure at the bottom. Stick another circle on the top to keep fabric in place. Old tights would be a good fabric. Stick another card circle at the bottom for the brim. You can spray paint them, put a ribbon round, use match sticks for hat pins and add a price ticket. No sewing and a fun way to spend an afternoon if you get a few friends to help
I thought this rang a bell. There was a post not long ago about a mad hatter tea party in this Requests and Help section (page 2), there are loads of ideas over there
