Easter Eggs With no Food Coloring or Color Tablets?

So, I wasn't able to really get to the store before Passover started, and now that I have, I can't buy food coloring, because it's Passover, and certain things aren't sold during Passover.

The thing is this: I'm not Jewish; I'm Christian. I'm going to celebrate Easter. I want to decorate Easter eggs, but I clearly don't have an egg decorating kit, and, as I just explained, I can't get food coloring.

I'm about to do a search in the "projects" section, but what are some of the ways you all think I could decorate eggs without those two things that would also still look traditional--and be relatively quick and easy, as I have to keep my boyfriend interested??? ;)

Thanks in advance!!!

PS: I know there are natural dyes--for example, my dad's family grew up dying the eggs a rich chocolate brown with onion skins. I might be able to do some natural dyes, if there are some with prettier colors..... I'm just at a complete loss at the moment.

if you have a printer you can design and print your own little easter egg holders.

Something like this http://www.dltk-holidays.com/easter/mholderanimals.htm

i did a method with colored tissue paper when i was young. it´s not very quick, but i like it Happy you make tiny squares out of the tissue paper, dip them into water and stick it onto an (white) egg. When it´s dried you remove the tissue paper which gave its color to the eggshell.

If all else fails try coloured pencils or felt tip pens. It's what my dad used to decorate our eggs Happy

I was going to use crayons/colored pencils, but then we were gone all day! The post office opened on Sunday (today) until noon, so when I went to get my swap package, I saw that my mom had sent me something, too. When I got home and opened it, I saw that she had included an egg decorating kit!!!!!! If only the package had gotten to my house 2 days sooner!

It's okay, though. I decided that we will decorate eggs for Orthodox Easter, which is NEXT Sunday. :-P

Thanks for all the great ideas, ladies!!!
