So I'm planning on starting school next year. I went to a couple schools in the area to check 'em out and everything. And I found a school that I really liked and everything, now it's just time to apply.
I'm going for a bachelors in fashion design, out of everything I would love to be doing that for the rest of my life. For this particular school you have to be accepted into that particular program...to be honest that part is making me panic a little bit, I'm probably over re-acting but it doesn't change the fact that I am.
So I have to make a portfolio, which I've never ever done. And that's what the admission department judges you on. Now I've got tons of sketches. TONS. So the ideas are all there, I've even got some posted as a project if you're interested in taking a look. They want full color drawings and stuff and organization. I've got some really rough vague guidelines that the school gave me. That being said, I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing. Completely direction-less. I've tried to look up examples on the internet and stuff, but all I can really find is professional portfolios. They also said that I can add pictures of things I've made but I can't use what I already have as far as that goes because they aren't quality pictures, or artistic or whatever. Just me holding a camera in the mirror.
What do I do!?
I have that exact iron in blue!! I accidently stole it from a friend, well never returned it really...anyway.
Does the steam work on it? If the steam isn't working then the water-holding-parts (?) of it are probably broken. Although it could just be a seal if you're feeling daring enough for surgery...jus' saying.
Curiosity, you're using distilled water right? I've ruined two old iron's just by using tap water, hard water deposits and stuff.
Pfft. Not to brag...but my waters pretty metal, really hardcore ya know. Had to go completely opposite for the iron, nursery water...because babies aren't metal. Here I was thinking my metal water and my iron would be alloys....

This may sound like a stupid question but is tatting hard? Is it at least comparable to some other kinda of yarn/string....craft. Like knitting or crochet or something.
I've been meaning to learn for a while now. To be honest, I'm a little intimated is all.
And then you need a special needle? I was all confused. My sister told me she does it with out a tatting needle, but she never got around to teaching me before she went home (outta state).
I'm fairly certain I have the right kind of thread and MAYBE the rest of the materials (???). But I don't really know where to go next. Anybody know any good sites to learn from, I'm usually pretty good at teaching myself things. I just don't want to have to go through you tube looking up random video's that are totally useless or teach you completely wrong. I wouldn't know the difference until I realize that nothing I do is working at all.
Lol That's what happened with the whole knitting thing. Apparently I knit backwards? Or like I'm left handed? I dunno but at least that one worked out in the end.

I exfoliate like you wouldn't believe! K, so showers usually consist of a double washing (don't really know why, cause I don't lather rinse and repeat with my hair even) I scrub everything and then I've been using a pumice stone, like the one for your feet. I just rub it everywhere, just not to hard to tear up my skin. But it for sure does wonders. Not gonna lie, those things are fantastic for back itchies too Then I wash again just in case there's grossness from all my dead skin shtuffs.
But I'll try the soakin' in the tub thing first chance I get...timing in house of 4 people.
Does anyone else use conditioner as a shaving cream substitute though? I do that sometimes....it seems unlikely that its the problem considering it leaves my legs the softest out of anything...as far as razor burn is concerned anyway. And To be perfectly honest I've nearly given up on shaving lately because I rarely show my legs, and its cold, and I love knee socks. I'm down to shaving like once every two weeks and I'm still getting them anyway. Can't imagine its the knee socks either cause I've been wearing knee socks nearly religiously since middle school, while this has only been going on for the past year or so, maybe little bit less. We haven't even changed our detergent or anything, haven't moved neighborhoods or anything.
Although, I'm totally taking an awesome time bath later.

So there's this trick I learned from a friend who liked cleavage.
Take a tube sock and roll it up and put it at the bottom of your bra cup and (sorry bout this part) grab your boob right lift it up and set it on top of it. you may have situate the sock so it isn't obvious. You could always experiment with different size socks to get everything even. Sometimes it take a little bit to get it right so you can't tell there's something stuck in your bra that isn't you. Since you're not a itty bitty titty spokeswoman it'll be easier for you.
That'll save you from cutting a bra or worrying about what's gonna work whenever you go shopping. Not to mention they stay put really well, better than inserts ever did for me. Me, I love a good push up bra, but they're not always whats clean that day. This tricks works for an A cup and up.
I wanna say that my friend learned about it from that playboy bunny show, but I can't be sure...and hey I'd trust them on bobby stuff, they're all about that life.
Promise this isn't that gross...nothing to do with pubes or anything like that.
So I have this problem of constantly getting ingrown hairs on my legs. They're not super horrible or anything, but to be quite honest, I've got hardcore adult A.D.D. and I'm generally pretty depressed so I'm a picker by default.
I really can't help but mess with them, I mean if there's are hair and I know it I'll dig for it with tweezers and stuff. THEN I end up covered with little scabs and neosporin / A&D ointment (which is super awkward gross-ness) because of it. It seems whatever I do I can't stop them from happening. Its seems it would make more sense to just stop them from happening rather than controlling the fidgety nit-pickey side of me.
K so maybe this post did get a little on the gross side.
Regardless, does anyone know what to do about this? Short of duck taping mittens to my hands I dunno what to do...albeit that would be funny.
Maybe this isn't the right place to pose this question (dunno, seemed appropriate to me, but maybe it belongs in the general crafts board?)
Anyway, I could be retarded or oblivious but it there a way to create new/our own project tags? There's a super limited options as far as what tags we can add to projects. Whenever I look up what kind of tags I want there almost always never there. Personally I tag the heck out of things I post online. Do hash-tags work if we put them inside the project description itself? (twitter and instagram have ruined me!)

Any idea on when the new pages will be up for posting new projects?
It's kinda frustrating having to go back to the old look to post new projects, versions or editing old projects.
I actually really like the new layout so I'm hoping that that part of the site will be updated soon too. I was an absentee member for like 4 to 6 months and when I came back everything was all new and fancy, but then the new project page was the same old same old. BOOO!
You guys (Techies? Tom? Interwebzer-wizards? I dunno!!!) are usually pretty awesome about fixes and stuff but I just wanted to know when the update will be.

Awe now that i think about it this thread might actually be dead...
So I've had instagram pretty much since it hit the android market. I'm in love with it. Bordering on sad addiction. I haven't really had much luck finding crafty people on there without having to filter through like a million results for #diy or #handmade. Unfortunately I keep finding chicks who make something once and take a picture with it close to their boobs, or make things that are just plain slutty, suddenly everyone loves them....sorry rant over. Promise
But I'm looking for more people to follow. We should all share some instagram love and share some @names! I'd follow you.
Especially if you share your crafty things. We could start a CO&K revolution....there just needs to be a war cry or no one will get it.

So apparently they've just added "Web profiles" I'm assuming that you can view peoples profiles without having the app...or on your computer...I'm doing this from my phone now, so who knows for sure. :/ I usually just use a google chrome extension when I'm feeling especially lazy.
