Yeah, this is really needed for the swaps. But until the rating becomes available I'd reccomend all hosts of swaps to make some basic rules on who can/can't enter. Eg.
1. Participants must have been a member on CO&K for 2 months
2. Participants must have posted 4 projects/creations
3. Participants must have posted over 100 posts on the board

On other forums I've used I've been able to put a 'strike'(horizontal line through your text) over the text I've written but the coding to do so doesn't seem to work on this forum, anybody know how to? (I've seen it used previously on the CO&K forums so it can be done)
I've tried:
[strike]insert phrase here[/strike]
insert phrase here
my board avatar still hasn't changed, but my profile photo is up to date.
I think instead of cliking "add to favourites" on a project there should just be a little love heart and when you clik on it, it turns red. That way the whole page won't refresh and it just makes it quicker, plus you wouldn't need to have the favourites section as if people wanted to save the project they could just put it in a list. It's kind of similar to the "LIKE" button on facebook. It would just makes things sooo much simpler.
*bump*<<<just refreshing this topic
"How do you mean the same for internet sites?" Well, when you want to favourite a site that you like or want to look at later you press the favourite button, and from that you can organise your favourites websites into folders and sub-folders. I was just wondering if we could do the same on CO&K.
"People may start lists for projects that would be good gift ideas, in that case they wouldn't be favorites of that member but of someone else." But when there weren't lists on CO&K I favourited projects that I thought would be good gift ideas.
But now that there are lists I won't be using CO&K favourites anymore as I don't find there is a need for them.
I do understand it would be hard to integrate them both though.
Maybe on the projects, you could just have a little blank star and when you click on it it turns gold, as counts as a favourites 'vote'- because then it would just be an extra little thing to click on, and you wouldn't have to have the whole page refresh.
"Someone could make a list of projects they didn't like and then it wouldn't make sense for us to feature those projects.". True but people could just as easily 'favourite' a project by mistake, and both of those would occur extremely rarely and would hardly affecting the Top 20 results.
I would just really like it if favouriting on CO&K was the same as 'favouriting' for interent sites.
I understand though if you guys want to keep it how it is, but I just wanna argue my point
"I'd like to be able to edit my lists. Like remove things from them."-I didn't realise we couldn't remove projects from lists, I really want that as well
"What if the project wasn't a favorite but you wanted to put it in a list? I think people might get annoyed if it automatically went in to their favorites. What does everyone else think?" Yeah that is true.
Favourites on CO&K are almost pointless though, I don't see any need for them if we have lists. Coz you can categorise any project into a list. You could have lists like "miscellaneous" or "pretty things".
Then the popularity of one's project could be measured by counting how many people ahve added it to their list(which is essentially "favouriting").
No probs, thankyou
My profile picture isn't working, it's showing my old one(of the fridge)instead of my new cat one.
Can you fix it Crafterella?
"Hmm we hadn't thought about doing mail notifications for adding to lists, do you think it would be useful or do you think it might get annoying if you start receiving a lot of emails? "
Couldn't a project just automatically go to your favourites if you put it in a list?
Because then you get a favourites email notification and your project can be in the running for "most popular projects".
"I dont really know how you would combine the 2 though." You could just have folders like you do when you favouorite/bookmark websites. Then you don't need to worry about listing and favouriting. All you would do is click "favourite" and then a box or something could come up and you select which folder/folders you want to put it into.
If Favourites are being used a way to measure how popular a project is then aren't Lists interfering with that idea?
Because,if a person adds a project to their "To make" list then they most likely aren't going to 'favourite' it as well; meaning that the creator of the project doesn't know how much people are enjoying their project.
What does everyone think on this topic?
Just a thought: Couldn't lists and favourites be integrated together, much like the 'favourites' people use to bookmark internet sites. Then, a project could still be favourited but at the same time organised and put in a folder. This would also mean that you could have a folder within a folder, which would keep things even more organised.
yeah I'm having the same prob too
do you mean you want actual pictures when type in a smiley face or whatever?
