Little Girls In Hussy Costumes....
Well the thing is, you shouldn't create the impression that toddlers and small childrens have breasts. I think that's my problem. I wouldn't care if little girls ran round topless because they look no different from little boys in that respect, and I can see them wearing a top when boys might not because maybe there is that little thing that one day they'll have breasts, but when they have proper breast-cupping bikinis, it looks like they SHOULD have breasts, when they shouldn't. Did that make sense?
Yes, and they wonder why kids are having other kids, but then at school, we were so young and I was the only one who was my age even though I was mature, maybe it was the mother's buying them bras or older brothers/sisters/cousins taking the mick? These kiddie mags like 'MIZZ' always said that everyone is different and grows at different rates, and the other girls read them but still took the piss.
I was thinking the other day, sex education doesn't really need improving because I think they may know how it works...they just need to do better sort of 'health education', although they could do with just spelling everything out, like in Mean Girls!!!
umm..sooo nevermind.
overall i think "sex appeal" is being introduce to our little ones at such an early age. oi!
Sex appeal yeah, but I don't see a problem with...well, what's called sexual education but isn't actually about sex, quite early. And I think teenagers should be taught about sex in year seven - no, they shouldn't be having sex at the age of eleven, but they're in a situation now where they can be with people up to eighteen, who can and will take advantage. We didn't get taught about sex till year ten, and by then for most people it was FAR too late
Year 11 was when we had to put the condom on the plastic thing, I'm so glad I was off that day...but that was so pointless, too late as you said KK! But anyway sex education doesn't come into it that was an after thought, it's sex appeal as sug said.
Ewwww, I totally agree with you. I have been disgusted by this trend for a few years now. I thought maybe it was just me being middle-aged and not with it. Glad to see I'm not alone. My daughter is now 21. I almost always made their costumes when they were grwoing up. Can't these Mom's use their imaginations instead of buying the crap they sell? It's not hard to do especially if you go to thrift stores. You can find so many ideas to make your own cute, NOT SEXY, little girl costumes. I made my daughter, a cute bat costume, a elf/santa's helper costuem, The Queen of Hearts and Pebbles. Pebbles was my favorite that I made. Made it almost all from scratch. Even used styrofoam insulation for the bone in her hair. I wanted my baby to look like the sweet adorable little girl that she is and was not like a hooker. Why would you do that?
No, none of you are "being old timey!" I completely agree with you, and I'm in middle school! Every year I look at costumes, the girls' ones look more and more like the womens costumes, especially those in the "sexy" category. Some of the girls in the later years at my school were wearing somewhat "sexy" costumes, but my large group of friends either dressed up as zombies or quite childish looking fairies, with no-sew tutus and plastic Tiaras! One thing I have to say though, about the spankies, is that most of my friends and I play volleyball at our school, and wear them for practices and games. We don't wear them in public much, but they're REALLY comfy, and sometimes we just decide not to take them off after practice for awhile, and maybe walk around or poke into the shops and delis along the street before our parents come. Again, I agree with all of you!
urghhh how positively gross. Im 17 in a few weeks and even I dont go with the mean girls philosophy of haloween, I go as either something scary or something funny, not a slappers costume. young people grow up too fast nowadays
I have a few ideas as to why parents dress their young girls up like prosti-tots...
1. They want their daughter to make it onto an MTV show like Teen Moms or 16 and Pregnant.
2. They want to be on the Maury show.
3. They drink more than most people's livers and kidneys can handle.
Have a look at the tv programs and cartoons kids watch these days and you'll see where this trend comes from. The shows aimed at teen girls particularly. Well guess what producers, your shows are actually watched by lots of pre-teen girls too and they want to look like their screen idols. TV, movies and magazines have been pushing girls towards this look for years and the closer they get the more they push it. Is it any wonder the kids want those outfits?
What about the woman who dressed her 3yo as the prostitute from Pretty Woman for a pageant? When did pageants start awarding the prize to the kids who looked like growth-stunted adults rather than kids?
There is much more here than just bad parenting, it's a decaying social system
I hate that i'm 12 and i went costume shopping with my mom really early this year and this little girl came up to her mom with a costume that was a super skimpy Cheshire cat and her mom said she would get it becuse it was the cutest thing she ever saw i looked at the costume where she got it from when i looked at it closer it looked like something that should be worn at a rave( no offence to ppl on here that go to raves) like it was a bikini it had like a tank top that went under it but it was skin colored so that doesn't help ether and then they had fluffies for the boots and short shorts with some fishnet leggings and i thought i was dreaming when i looked at the age rating it said 7 to 12 apperently its never to early to become a prostitute me on the other hand i was lady gaga but i was not reaveling any of my goods
