Trouble with a keyhole necklace

So I was walking around lowes hardware with my fiance the other day and I noticed these cute skeleton keys. For some odd reason I have a thing for them hehe. Anyway, I had this great idea for an anniversary gift to my love. I want to get one of the keys and put it on a necklace and somehow make another necklace with a keyhole on it for him (or me which ever way it goes). I've been thinking all day about how I could make a keyhole and I just got nothing :/. Anyone have any ideas?

You could always make one from shrinkies. just cut out the key hole shape and put it in the oven for a couple of minutes. really easy, just make sure you make it bigger than you want the finished piece to be, it shrinks quite a bit Happy

I'd try a local lock smith and see if they have any broken locks you could pull apart for a key hole.

they should also sell the oval 'keyhole' shaped mortise lock covers. you could attatch the small oval kind to, say, some balsa or foamcore.. or maybe even just bolt the two plates together. the important thing to know here is that the traditional keyhole shape is on a decorative cover that screws onto the door , not the actual lock mechanism. i personally would want to find original hardware (i.e. from a house being remodeled) or antique them somehow, myself.

You could sculpt one out of clay.
