Destroying a pair of perfectly good jeans

I am going to make a pair of jean awesome again. They will be inspired by one of my favourite bands, goatmill.
Before I launch at them, scissors and teeth bared, Im wondering.. How do I do neat (ish) tears and those things that are like holes, but still with the white thread. If that made any sense. Also, will acrylic paint stain them? and if it will, how do you do realistice blood splatters/ stains.
