My huge custom-made cutting table is my favorite thing about my quilting room. This table is extra special because it was given to me by my best friend Susan. Her husband made it for her art room but several years later she became ill and couldn’t work on projects anymore. Last year she made sure that I got her table. Sadly, she passed away in June, but I think of her everyday I am working at my table and I have such great memories of our friendship . (There is a picture of the two of us on the wall near the table)
Tell us about your space
My quilting room is a spare bedroom in our house and I am fortunate because it is just used as my sewing room. It is outfitted with everything I need to work on my quilt projects and I love spending time in there - it’s truly my happy place!
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I painted the walls white and left the large wall plain so I can display my quilts and change them out periodically. I love bright colors and have lots of little colorful accessories and pom poms , which I’m obsessed with!
How do you keep organized?
I had a company install closet organizers [mostly shelves) to hold my plastic bins which is where I store all my quilt projects and fabric. Each bin has a specific quilt project in it and I pull it out when working on that quilt. I have the bins labeled so I can easily locate projects and fabrics.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I like to use untraditional storage containers like the silverware caddy that I keep my scissors, rotary cutters and tape measures in. I also have a set of clear lucite jewelry drawers that I store fabric markers in. My other favorite organizers are the rolling carts from Michael’s that are great for storing supplies.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
My favorite possessions are the 3 framed prints on my wall that my daughter Melissa painted for me: the sewing machine, scissors and spool they are very special!

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I mostly use screen shots on my camera and Instagram to save ideas. To be honest, I am not very organized with these kind of things!

Instagram and quilt magazines
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
I would double the size, vault the ceilings and add wood beams, and have a countryside view out my window!
