Come behind the scenes at Copic In The Craft Room for a #CraftRoomTour and see Michelle's Office.
My favorite thing is the light in my filming area and my desk with built ins in the office.
Tell us about your space
I spread out a little trough out the downstairs of our home. We have an office that I share with my husband, we both have our desks and large built in shelves in this space. I do most of my computer work and coloring here.
I also have taken over our dining room space. It has spectacular lighting and it serves as my photo/filming area. Good thing we eat our family meals on the couch.
Lastly we have a HUGE kitchen island that gets taken over with card making once I have a pile of images colored. That has to get cleaned up most nights for meal prep though,
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I have some personal items on top of my marker storage and family photos on a bulletin board next to me. Because this is all in the hub of my home it all is pretty cozy and personal.
How do you keep organized?
About once or twice a year I do a major clean out of materials. I have realized that over time as my crafting has changed it just not make sense to hold onto it all. Make a HUGE difference.
And my desk has to get cleared more frequently. It all gets piled up so fast and then it is hard to even think let alone create. So clearing the deck is a great place for me to get motivated and get moving.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
Find your own system, there are so many AMAZING storage systems out there now and tons built specifically for crafting supplies of all kinds. I like my markers in open compartments in color families, but I know A LOT of crafters that like them all lined up in numerical order.
Also keep the things you use most right within reach! When I do my clean out I will always find things I have been meaning to use tucked away and buried, if I get them pulled to the front somewhere they will get used!
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
My Copics are certainly my most used crafty possession and those are sitting right in front of me on my desk. I have a very small collection of items on the top of my Copic storage that are personal and remind me of people I love. Then above my desk I have a few pieces that I have created.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I usually stamp images for Design Team work and Classes in big batches then mark them with post its if I need to with due dates. I typically have a stack on the corner of my desk and new my filming set up in the order that they need to get completed.
I try to save images on Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration. I also have note books I keep notes in for up-coming class ideas and need to accomplish lists. I am thinking about starting a trravlerrs notebook system for this in the future.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Instagram, Facebook and Pintrest are huge sources of inspiration for me. I also follow a few blogs of people who I feel have spectacular content.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
1 - More natural light above and around my work desk. Because of the space my window is currently behind me.
2 - A space large enough to put all the filming and photo equipment as well as a large open work space for card assembly all in one room with my desk and supplies.
That would really do it. I am super lucky that I have the spaces that I have, the furniture and all the supplies and tools! The natural light would really make my heart happy, I am a sunshine girl and the space is really just a convenience thing, certainly not needed.
