Come behind the scenes at Junkflirt for a #KitchenTour and see Shannon's kitchen in Fargo, North Dakota.
Years of collecting vintage decor all coming together, I love the Hoosier style cabinet which was a $25 garage sale find!
Tell us about your kitchen?
We live in a double wide mobile home, the flow of the kitchen into dining area helps a smaller kitchen seem much larger. It also becomes our main entertainment area, especially in winter with the cozy fireplace.
What have you done to make your kitchen cosy, functional, beautiful or inspiring?
When we moved in the cabinets were dark brown and it had a very tacky vintage brown wall paper. We have painted, repainted and will probably paint again, such an easy update that makes a huge difference.
How do you keep organized while cooking?
I try to somewhat clean as I go, keeping utensils at an easy grasp and loading the dishwasher in between dishes helps to eliminate clutter and stay on task.
Any tips & tricks for organising your pantry, fridge and ingredients?
Best tip for me is when I clean my fridge I line the shelves with press and seal paper, so much easier to clean up spills!
Do you do a lot of cooking and what are your favourite dishes to make?
I cook less than I used to with just two of us now, but I still love to bake, and just made my son’s grooms cake last month.
Where do you turn for new recipe ideas?
Pinterest, cookbooks, and even Instagram
Do you plan out your recipes for the week or do you like to be spontaneous?
I never plan. I admire people who do, but I just wing it.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make this your dream kitchen?
New floor, new cupboards, new countertops, wouldn’t that be nice. I love the layout but it’s well past update time.
