Come behind the scenes at Peonies and Pears for a #CraftRoomTour and see Lori's office.
I love that this is the brightest bedroom with windows on two walls.
Tell us about your space
This is our spare bedroom, but the bed is really more for my sweet kitty Mia. We rarely have overnight guests. This 8-1/2' by 13' room is my office and craft area.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
The walls are painted a dark gray and the original wood floors are painted white. To this neutral base I have accents of gold/silver and pinks and coral. The window treatments and bedding are a bright white, along with the furniture to keep it fresh and modern.
The gallery wall art is changed out frequently as my interests and art changes. I frequently display my own creations here, after creating for blog posts. I keep an ever changing mood board too.
How do you keep organized?
I tend to create chaos as I'm working on a new project and often have more than one going at a time. I use decorative boxes to keep things organized. I store like items together and label the boxes. This way it's easy to grab what I need, as well as put things away quickly.
I also use baskets to store long items like photo background papers, wrapping papers, etc.
Prop items are stored by holiday or theme so I can find things quickly.
And finally, several rolling carts for the items I use most often. It is easy to roll a cart beside my work space to use items directly. It eliminates cleanup.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
Hide things in plain sight with decorative boxes and baskets. Use the space under the bed for storage. I also go vertical with a tall bookshelf, as well as wire racks on the wall to keep my desk and work surface clutter free.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
My favorite possession is probably a nightstand that my son made me in high school. I also have snippets of family memories tucked into the room such as a collection of small, antique bottles from my dad and photos of my boys.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
Pinterest is my go to, online tool for inspiration organization. However I also keep color swatches and images on a board in the office to inspire me as I'm developing ideas or projects for the blog.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I frequently find inspiration when shopping. Whether online or in person, I see something that inspires an idea or a hack and will snap a photo to remind myself later to look harder at the idea.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
1. A bigger room for sure! 2. Larger desktop workspace. I like to spread out as I'm crafting! 3. A dedicated photography area. Double duty surfaces slow me down!
