I'm a Cartoon & Comic Art student in my final year at University from the UK.
Besides making my webcomic I love to make colourful illustrations, especially portraits and creating characters, but I'm trying to branch out a little. I like a lot of pink cutesy art and my main inspirations tend to be webcomics, such as Heartstopper, Unfamiliar, and Cucumber Quest.
In my free time I mainly watch horror movies, game playthroughs from GameGrumps, listen to DnD podcasts, or eat way too many chocolates/desserts.
I'm mostly active on Instagram or Twitter (@starsinmycoffee)
Have you always been creative and artistic?
I guess! I don't remember being a creative kid, but I've been told I would only finish school work as a child if they let me draw a picture with it and I used to write some strange stories about time travel, pirates, and dragons.
I think around 11-13 years old I became more creative and made a lot of progress with my art as I was inspired by games such as Kingdom Hearts and read a lot of Manga.
How would you describe the style of your work?
Colourful and hopefully calming or fun? I want to make art that's pleasing to look at.
What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?
My pencil case is full of mostly brush pens, but my favourites are my Pink Col-Erase pencils, and my pastel highlighters I use to add a little colour to sketches.
Who is your favorite superhero?
100% Sailor Moon.
I used to watch Sailor Moon a lot growing up and I found her to be relatable.
If you could have one super power what would it be?
Make yummy food appear out of thin air...or if I could make plants grow at a fast rate. It would be nice to see more trees and flowers in my town.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Everywhere in general. More specifically from artists I like on Instagram/Twitter, real life, webcomics, or the strange vivid dreams I have every night.
Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?
Comics:
Princess Princess Ever After, by Katie O'Neill was really sweet.
Nimona, by Noelle Stevenson, is one of my favourite comics and I've recently started reading Lumberjanes too.
Giant Days is also on my top comics list, written by John Allison, and art by Max Sarin and Lissa Treiman.
There are also the previously mentioned webcomics:
Unfamiliar by Haley/@lavendertowne
Cucumber Quest by GiGi/@gigideegee
Heartstopper by Alice Oseman/@AliseOseman
It's a bit difficult to pick my favourite artists because I follow a lot, but they're mostly people I'm friends with. Sometimes I'll retweet their work on my Twitter or give shoutouts on my Instagram story, so keep an eye out if you're interested!
