How did you get started?
Owned and operated by Patrick and Shirl Rowsome. Between us we've worked 30 years in the animation industry. Then one fine day a great opportunity came to us and Sunnyside Art Supplies opened its doors on January 6, 2014.
Where are you located?
We are located in the wonderful community of Kensington in Calgary. An art store has been in this location since 1971. People have been coming here since they were kids. And now they're still coming here as older kids and they bring their kids. They bring their dogs, too!
Which products do you specialise in?
We have a great range of art supplies but people are crazy about pens and markers and they can't seem to get enough of 'em!
We have so many from Duo Tombows to Faber Castell Pitt Pens to Copics and the Pentel Pocket Brush to the Sakura Pigma Sensei. .
Do you have a particular favorite product that you sell?
Shirl's favourite product is Origami Paper. She loves making mixed media with Origami Paper and Acrylic Paints. Pat's favourite is Air Brushes and he loves sketching Dinosaurs with his favourite pen, the new Plastic Nib Pigma Micron pen.
We have some of our own art, along with staff art, up in our store to show people what they can do with all of these wonderful art supplies.

Where else should we visit in your area?
There are too many places to mention, it's a beautiful neighbourhood to spend a day in! Some of our favourites are Livingstone & Cavell, an amazing toy store, Pages Bookstore and the Regal Cat Cafe for coffee and cat visits.
Do you host any workshops, classes or special events?
Our workshops are done by ourselves, staff and other local artists and teachers. They're usually done on the weekends after the shop is closed. Please check out our Facebook and website for workshops.
Is there anything else you'd like us to know?
We love dogs! So dogs are always welcome in our store...and they get a treat, too!
We are all artists here to help you in whatever you need to create your own masterpiece or project. Art is all you need...all you need is Art.
And we have parking in the back of the store!
