Come behind the scenes at Fashionable Foods for a #KitchenTour and see Keri's kitchen in Delaware.

My favorite thing about my kitchen is definitely the layout. I love that there are multiple work surfaces - it makes multitasking easier! My favorite feature that really sold me on this house are the 42" cabinets - they are so tall and have tons of space. They are actually so tall that I can't even reach above the second shelf without a step ladder!

Tell us about your kitchen?

My kitchen is spacious, full of natural light, and where I spend most of my time. I don't like clutter at all, so I try and keep the "stuff" to a minimum. If it's out on the counter, it gets used at least once a day. There's plenty of seating - barstools at the island, a small kitchen table by the windows, and the open doorway leads into the dining room. I like having the dining room right there but still sectioned off from the kitchen - it makes it nice for entertaining. (I don't like people hovering when I'm in my kitchen!)

What have you done to make your kitchen cosy, functional, beautiful or inspiring?

Since the house was new construction when we moved in, the kitchen was essentially a blank canvas. There was no backsplash, no refrigerator, no cabinets handles, etc. My first order of business after moving in (besides getting a fridge!) was swapping out the electric range that came with the house for the gas range you see in the pictures. In time we started making more updates - adding the custom backsplash, handles, and a few decor pieces here and there. It's still a work in progress, but I'm loving it so far!

How do you keep organized while cooking?

I create "stations" in my kitchen, which is why I love the layout so much. The area next to the stove is where I do most of my chopping and keeping ingredients at easy reach for throwing into a pan. When I'm making more complicated dishes, I utilize the space by the sink - that's where I make my homemade pasta. The long counter area is where I typically prep ingredients for baking and is also where I plate dishes for photographing or serving to guests. I also make sure to clean up as I go. It makes such a difference in staying organized!

Any tips & tricks for organising your pantry, fridge and ingredients?

Anyone that knows me knows I'm crazy about an organized fridge and pantry. My fridge is always really full, but I try and keep it organized as much as possible. Labels always face out (so you know what it is!) and I like to keep leftovers in sight so they don't get forgotten about. I clean out my fridge weekly and my pantry gets cleaned out every month.

Do you do a lot of cooking and what are your favourite dishes to make?

I cook every single day, whether it's every single meal or just breakfast, I'm always cooking something. On weekends I love making Belgian waffles for breakfast or brunch. Friday nights are for homemade pizza.. and special occasions call for homemade pasta.

Where do you turn for new recipe ideas?

I find inspiration for recipes anywhere and everywhere! Magazines, restaurants, Pinterest, and my garden. I grow as much fresh produce as I can! Not only is it convenient to have fresh fruits/veggies growing in my backyard, but it inspires me to get creative. When you end up with 20 eggplants in a week, you learn to come up with as many different ways to eat them as possible!

Do you plan out your recipes for the week or do you like to be spontaneous?

I always plan out my recipes. I'm a planner by nature, so spontaneous doesn't work so well for me. However, I usually leave one or two days a week unplanned. I like to account for leftovers or going out to eat... and if neither happen, it challenges me to be spontaneous and come up with something!

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make this your dream kitchen?

Frist, I'd double the size... because a kitchen is just never big enough :) Second, I would add a second dishwasher. My dishwasher is ALWAYS full and dishes in the sink drive me crazy! Third, a commercial-style stove would be nice. The more burners I have, the more I can multitask.
