Come behind the scenes at Crafty Little Gnome for a #CraftRoomTour and see Adrienne's craft room in Northern Washington.
There is lots of natural light coming in through the window and the room is a decent size so I have space to set up my tables, take pictures and store supplies in the closet.
Tell us about your space
This room used to be our spare bedroom but I decided one day that I was going to use it as my craft room. I cleared out all the junk we had stored in it and set up my craft tables and layed out my supplies. I use this room mostly for making jewelry for my shop www.craftylittlegnome.etsy.com but I make other crafts for my blog www.craftylittlegnome.com. I have my sewing machine set up and can easily set up my tripod and camera to take pictures of my crafts.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I ripped out the old carpet and layed down new vinyl flooring. I also painted the walls with a fresh coat of white paint and hung faux brick wall paper on one wall. I added new curtains and a curtain panel to cover the closet. I also painted the back of the door to look like the door from Monica's apartment on the T.V. show FRIENDS.
How do you keep organized?
Lots of little boxes to keep beads and Rubbermaid containers to hold the larger items. I have baskets and cupboards to hold things like scissors and books but I need to add more shelving and maybe a pegboard to hold my jewelry making tools.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
Keep everything as visible as you can while still keeping it organized. It's hard to find things when they are tucked away in cabinets behind closed doors but having everything laid out saves time when trying to find an item.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
I love my houseplants and having fresh flowers on display. I think they help make the room feel more inviting. I some of my crystal mobiles on display which make lovely rainbow patterns on the walls and I hung a granny square bunting banner that I crocheted above the closet.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I usually keep my inspirations and ideas online on my Pinterest boards but I use journals and calendars to help me keep on track with my goals and scheduling blog posts.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Other artists, pop culture, fairy tales and mythology.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
More space
A magic wand that would automatically clean up after me.
Never ending supply of craft supplies so that I don't have to take late night trips to the craft store right before they close to finish a project!
