Come behind the scenes at Little Luxuries Loft for a #CraftRoomTour and see AlleC's office in Vancouver.
My work space isn't very big but it is pretty versatile. I can set up my studio lights on my craft desk for photos and then pack them away when I'm done. I can sit at my desk to do sketching or assemble my paper crafts.
Tell us about your space
My craft room doubles as an office. I also share the space with my sister, the other side of the room is all our sewing supplies, so there is a lot going on in that one room haha. Mostly I'm doing paper crafts or taking photos when I'm working in that space.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I do try to decorate here and there. I did a fun decorative diy project with my cork board and an IKEA cord light which spells out 'hello'. I also used my cutting machine to make some chalkboard critter wall decals that I write notes on.
How do you keep organized?
I keep some of my paper crafts in wire draw units but most I recycle when I'm done with them. Paper, scissors and glue I usually just tuck in a drawer or put in pencil holders. I store my photo props in fabric boxes, which currently live in my bedroom.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I'm not sure I'm the best person to give organizational tips as I'm still trying to figure that part out myself haha. But I'd just say make the most of your space and double up where ever you can. For my photo shoots I use painted boards for different table surfaces, as I don't have room for more furniture. When I'm done I just tuck the boards back in my closet.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
My favorite things are probably my notebooks and sketchbooks. I like to collect ones with pretty designs and motivation sayings :)
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
All my doodles and ideas go in my notebooks. I started using a planner this year so hopefully that will help with organizing my thoughts.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I find going for walks helps me think up ideas, just being away from the computer seems to clear my head. Of course if I'm looking for specific inspiration, like ideas for colour palettes I do look online, usually pinterest, google or instagram. Fabric stores are also great for inspiration, there's lots of fantastic surface pattern designers out there..the only problem is I end up buying fabric haha.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
I'd wish for some great Big Windows!! Sometimes I feel like I live in a cave haha, I'm really jealous of crafters with well lit spaces. I'd also love more storage and maybe a peg board for storing little things. Lastly I'd love some greenery! Either I kill my house plants or my cat chews them :P
