Lara Mindy is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based in Manila. Aside from doing graphic artworks, she enjoys travelling and taking landscape photographs. She spends her downtime reading books, listening to music, drinking tea and making art.
Have you always been creative and artistic?
Yes! I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. My first sketches were of Disney characters, Pokemon, and butterflies (lots and lots of butterflies).
How would you describe the style of your work?
Most of my artworks tend to be colorful, quirky and expressive. My drawings are mainly interpretations of a certain feeling or situation that I want to convey.
What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?
Let’s see…I currently have two HB pencils, an eraser, a ruler and a technical pen inside my case. Those are reserved for special occasions though, when I feel like drawing by hand, but mostly it’s the Wacom pen and tablet for me! It’s one of my most prized possessions! Super love them.
Who is your favorite superhero?
I don’t have any at the moment. I suppose if I have to choose then it would have to be Batman. He’s cool. I did admire Captain Planet when I was a kid. Thinking about it, I feel like I only watched Captain Planet because I found the opening song really catchy.
If you could have one super power what would it be?
Definitely teleportation. I would want to take my morning strolls and spend lazy afternoons in different parts of the world.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Everywhere actually, but I’m most inspired when I listen to music, explore new places, and do new things.
Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?
A lot! Nowadays, we can find and admire great artists and their works just by browsing the Internet, although the top two on my list would have to be Dali and June Digan.
