DIY Trench Vest
Recreate the look with Mikki's Trench Vest tutorial:
How would you describe your style?
Overall I try to keep my style classic but am unabashedly drawn to feminine ensembles. Depending on my mood I'll also go a bit more edgy, my leather jacket and motorcycle boots have definitely earned their keep in the closet.
What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?
It's so hard to select one piece as a favourite in my wardrobe. I truly love everything that resides in there! But one of my most treasured pieces is a candy apple red Oscar de la Renta dress. It's classic and feminine design will never go out of style. I've worn it on so many occasions and it still feels so incredibly special each time I don it.
Who are your style icons?
I'm inspired by so many individuals, but Audrey Hepburn and Olivia Palermo are always at the top of the list.
Do you have any favourite designers?
Oscar de la Renta was a master of femininity, and one of my all-time favourites. I also love what Yves Saint Laurent did for fashion during his time.
Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes?
In my hometown of Calgary, AB I love local boutique Coco + Violet, there's always something special in there to compliment my current closet. I also shop online often, I spend more time than I care to admit browsing Shopbop.
Do you make or customise your outfits?
I went to fashion design school for four years so I do make some of my pieces, although there's always fabrics and sketches that I just never seem to get around to.
Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?
Accessories are an easy way to change the look of an outfit. I always recommend investing in quality, classic pieces and playing around with jewellery, hats, scarves and footwear. A classic black dress can look so different based on how it's styled with those extra add-ons. Also small alterations such as playing with the hem of a dress or changing out the buttons on a blouse are easy ways to take your clothing from cookie-cutter to custom.
Which other fashion blogs do you love to read?
Atlantic-Pacific is my all-time favourite, Gal Meets Glam for her femininity, and Brooklyn Blonde for her classic, fashion-forward aesthetic.
