Great question! I'd say that the fact that I share my space with my kids is fun. They can see what I'm creating and be inspired to create their own things crafts all at the same time.
Tell us about your space
I share my craft spaces with my kids and my partner. The majority of my blogging and small crafting is done at my desk in the play area downstairs. I have a desk and cart tucked in the corner just below the stairs that the kids know is 'moms space'. It is roughly 50 sq/ft of space.
My bigger crafts and wood projects take place in the garage. That's where I get all my cutting and staining and painting done. Eric (my partner) parks his truck on one side and I get all creative and messy on the other side! I spend the majority of my time in the garage working.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I made sure to add pops of color to my desk area to keep it light and bright. A close friend of mine gave me a card that reads 'Rad as F*ck' awhile back and it makes me laugh everytime I see it, so it hangs where I can always see it. I'm a fan of monograms and washi tape, so I keep some R's in plain view and the washi tape accessible to that it's easy to grab when I need it.
How do you keep organized?
Baskets, baskets and more baskets. I love to see what I have and find that if items are too put away they are forgotten. Baskets keep things tidy and in their place, but are also easy to access what you need. The supplies that I keep in the garage are organised in an old Gulf oil cabinet, Eric found it at a garage sale awhile back and got it for a steal.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I try to keep like items together, ie: craft paint with brushes, glues and adherents together, anything sewing and fabric related. This way it's easier to find what I need when I need it. Purge every now and again. Every couple of months I go through my supplies and if I haven't used it recently or can't think of what I could use it for in the near future I donate it to the school my kids attend or give it to friends who will use it!
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
I would have to say my favourite thing is the $5 rolling cart I picked up at a garage sale ages ago. It houses my printer and some supplies and is so handy to have around
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
If I'm planning something I love to keep all of my ideas in a journal, I'll write things down & sketch things out, color them with pencil crayons. My inner kid comes out! I also spend more time then I should admit on Pinterest. I love browsing ideas and seeing what others have created!
Where do you look for inspiration?
I love to garage sale and find that I often get inspired when looking through someone else's 'junk'. Walking our neighborhood or visiting the farm are also other huge inspirations, there is something so calming and inspiring about the country and being outside.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
I would have a room of my own that was full of windows and bright light, white walls because I love the fresh clean look it gives and lots of bright artwork and craft projects hung everywhere. I would dedicate a wall with floor to ceiling cupboards for storage and maybe a cleaning lady to clean up the glittery crafty mess I leave behind, haha!
