We head to St Catharine's in Ontario, Canada to go behind the scenes at Creative Foundations and tour Vicki's super organized craft space.
My creating space is located centrally in my home. I love that its location allows me to be in the heart of what's happening while I am doing what I love. I do have a second space when I don't love being in the middle of what's going on too! I am a girl who needs to leave her options open!
Tell us about your space
My space is located right off my kitchen. Technically it should be a dining room but I commandeered it for my work space. The space is around 12x14 and I guess it is our computer room too. I am a mom so that seems to mean that everything that is mine also belongs to my two kids! :) But it is my space and I like to have them around. Like I mentioned before, I work in two areas of my home. The space on the main level of my home houses my computer and doubles as my work space (i.e.. writing instructions, working on my blog, etc). Paper crafts including scrapbooking, card making, stamping and mixed media art is what I generally work on in addition to my photography.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I surround myself with lots of pretty things and anything that makes organization both functional and beautiful. I have a black chandelier, a mix of antiques with modern pieces and I use some of my art to decorate the space.
How do you keep organized?
Baskets, bins, boxes, and shelves. If it will hold something it is used for storage. I love unexpected things like muffin tins, a vintage purse or even an old lunch box to store things in. I LOVE to organize!!!
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
Remember, I LOVE to organize!! My tips are put like items together and repetition in containers is a good thing. It keeps everything looking uniform and organized. Then I mix in a few containers that are unique so it doesn't look too stiff.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
I have an old Holly Hobby piggy bank from my childhood that I love and I really like the curtain rod with scrapbook layouts hanging from it. My artwork is placed throughout my room.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I have an inspiration board and I LOVE Pinterest!!! I used to have files for inspiration on my computer but now I Pin everything.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I have to say that Pinterest is the first place I go. Or I surf the NET and look through magazines. Inspiration is every where, you just have to keep your eyes and mind open to the possibilities.
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
Wish #1- a bigger brighter space
Wish #2- a sink and built in storage
Wish #3- an unlimited budget!!!
A girl can dream!!!
