Have you always been creative and artistic?

I have. My mom used to organize craft projects for my friends and me, and Art was my favorite class in school.

How would you describe the style of your work?

Quirky, whimsical, thoughtful, sentimental (in the good way), accessible, fun, hopeful, celebratory.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

Pencils are in my pencil case! I go high end on the items that really matter: Prismacolor pencils, Copic pens, and 100% cotton paper. But the one tool I hoard is cheap Bic mechanical pencils. My other favorite tool is a mechanical eraser. It has a tiny tip and can get in tight spots.

Who is your favorite superhero?

There are people who can answer this question from deep in their hearts. I'm just not one of them. But I did grow up watching She-ra, so maybe for nostalgia reasons she is still my favorite.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

Super-human strength.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I could not make the art I make without hearing from people about who and what is important to them - that is always the starting point of inspiration for me.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

The two artists whose work I'm the most obsessed with lately are also good friends of mine:
Tonya Gregg. Her paintings just blow me away.
Ashley Minner. She is probably the most thoughtful artist I can think of.
