We head to Delft in The Netherlands to tour Annemarie's minimal craft room:
My craft room used to be on the other side of the house, but this room is much lighter now that there's a patio adjacent to this room. So I decided to move everything to here and I'm glad I did. When the weather is nice I can open the doors behind me and sit outside if I want.
Tell us about your space
My craft room is pretty big, but for my crafts I mostly just use the part where my desk is. On the other side of the room, we have a television and two lounge chairs where we can sit and watch tv. I mostly crochet behind my desk or on one of the lounge chairs, but watching tv and crocheting at the same time isn't a very good combination so that rarely happens. I mainly crochet, but sometimes I make my own stamps. That's another hobby of mine.
I only have to share this room with my cat and sometimes with my boyfriend if he wants to watch television, but he's a musician so most of the time he is behind his piano.
What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?
I need to have crocheted stuff around me, and as I'm not always very good at cleaning up there's always something on my desk. Sometimes it's projects I'm working on, but there are also finished projects on my desk. I also love to have fun gadgets, like the apple container and the leaves magnets. I also love crocheted pencil toppers, so if I don't take them with me to work they are somewhere on my desk.
How do you keep organized?
I have a huge closet where I keep most of my stuff. If I didn't have that closet, my craft room and my desk would be extremely messy. I try to organize my desk and the closet every now and then.
Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?
I found a lot of great storage boxes at Ikea. They are not expensive and having nice boxes to put things in really motivates me to keep the place neat. I also try not to buy too many yarn and work with the materials I already have.
Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?
Projects I've made mostly stay on my desk for some time, until they are needed somewhere else. My most favorite possession is the picture of myself and our cat. She's a stray cat from Spain and we brought her home from our holiday. The picture was taken by my boyfriend and it really brings back so many fun and sweet memories.
How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?
I love cute notebooks, and I must say I have way too many. Most of my ideas end up in a notebook but I'm not very good at keeping it to one notebook. Sometimes I'm in the middle of a meeting at work when I open up a notebook and see a crochet pattern.
Where do you look for inspiration?
Most of my ideas pop up just out of the blue, but I do get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest. I also love to check out other blogs. There are so many talented people out there, have you ever wondered what it was like when we had no internet?
If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?
I'd love to have something nice on the wall. That's the only thing missing in my room at this point. Besides that, I have nothing else to wish for.
