A Living Pendant?Whaat?
Okay, so I like browsing site for i.n.s.p.i.r.a.t.i.o.n. We all do. One of my favorites is Shana Logic (and Meow box, but thats offtopic) So one of shanalogic's newer items is a "Mini terrarium Necklace - Cactus"
Link here-http://www.shanalogic.com/mini-terrarium-necklace-cactus.html
And I'd like to know, Do you have tips on making one myself? Are there special bottles? Do I grow the cactus inside a pot and then the bottle? Maybe not the cactus, a flower, if so what type?
Also, is there any Tuts or howto's around here?
Thanks to any help~
That looks amazing. And I have no idea How it would be done, but TOO COOL
ahha, I will let you know if I make/get one.^^
WOW, love it.Not crazy about cactus, as i live in the desert of Arizona..but guess I just see to many, but to have something live in that tiny capsule is amazing.
That is awesome. I love it.
You guys are no help
haahah, I'll post the link to a tut if I find/make one
i think you have to find those capsules that have an attachable bottom with these tiny holes in it! you can see in the picture that the capsule is not one part but two!
on ornamentea.com there´s a similar how-to, but with a normal bottle, i think it will work with plants that doesn´t need much water and are okay with the climate conditions in a bottle...
I've wanted to make one of these for ages but I also don't know how
I remember reading another terrarium tutorial which used air plants (Tillandsia) and I think you can get flowering varieties, so maybe you could put those inside your necklace?
I've seen mini cacti (?) I believe. They come in little kits, you can buy one and find a capsule to put it in.
alright, SoLaLa, I cant find the tut,
Louise Louisa, Thank you. I will look it up.
Panda, Never seen a kit small enough
I think that it's just a sort of nutrient gel in the bottom. So maybe if you could make a water/gel mix to go in the bottom with plant food in that would do to keep the cactus in place. As for the little cactus you need an adult cactus and you just cut off the little 'buds' that grow I believe. Here is another picture-
It's not a tut but hope it helped.
I forgot, I had a cactus once (an adult one) and I don't think I watered it once. I've got to have had it for about two years.... I'm harsh on my plants
So the gel in the bottom doesn't necessarily have to be a 'nutrient' gel. Just something the keep the cactus in place.
And the bottle you could find anywhere. I got a bottle quite similar (except mine has a little cork stopper at the top) from a gemstones collection.
Jenny, a very helpful site/etsy store. I have to figure this out! Thanks.
I don't know who's etsy store it is, but hey. Good Luck!
