Toy necklace help

I'm a n00b to necklace making, so Im sure you're tired of hearing the same questions over and over again, but I've tried to do my own research, but can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for.

There are these plastic toys that I really want to make into jewellery, but not sure how to go by making the toy stick to the wire..

The plan is to drill a hole into the plastic toy (obviously), but from then on im a bit at loss.. do I drill the hole all the way down, and then add a wire through the whole hole and make a loop at the top? Or is there any other way to do so?

I would love it if you could explain to me what I need and if there are any good tutorials out there that I have missed.

This is around what I'd like to make it out of:

Thank you in advance!

It would be a bit difficult to drill all the way down vertically if the animals are as big as they look on the picture. If you can drill down through the middle you could put a small bead on a head pin, thread it up through the hole, add another small bead and make a loop on the end to fix onto necklace.

Another way is to make a hole side to side put a small bead on a head pin, thread it through from front to back. Then wrap the wire upwards till it's in the right position to make a loop above the body. Depends on the animal shape as to how this method would work. You may need to make 2 holes, one at each end of the animal.

You could make a loop on wire, cut it to about 1 inch long, turn the metal over at the other end and thread a small stirp of fabric through and flatten it. Wrap the fabric round a few times. Drill half way through the animal downwards into the body and glue the loop and fabric into it.

Lastly, you could make the holes side to side through the body, thread wire through in a 'U' shape, with or without tiny matching beads on each side. Bring the ends together and twist together about 3 turns. Cut one end and make a loop with the other end.

hope this helps......I've run out of ideas now Happy

Ok, I have no idea if this will work, because I've never made a necklace like this, but I think to make it easier for you to drill a hole in it, you should drill it through the middle of the toy. This might make it take a shorter amount of time, and it might be easier. I couldn't see what you wanted to make the necklace out of, so I'm not sure if that's what you should do. Sheila A. sounds like she has better ideas...you should probably listen to her! Happy

Thank you Sheila and Gilly for the reply. I really appreciate it!!

I guess all I can do, really, is try and fail until I find out what works bestHappy I never thought about putting some fabric with glue into it.. interestingHappy I've been wondering if I should glue the metal into it (not sure which metal to use yet..), but pictured it not holding it proper, so maybe the fabric in there would do the trick.. How I wish there were some video tutorials online. Makes it so much easier for a n00b;) I've seen some really cute plastic animals that I want to use, but they are rather expensive so I'm going to test it on the cheap kind first.. maybe not the same plastic, but it will give me an idea.

Again, thank you!

Hello again. I came across a really simple solution while making a key ring. Those rings with a screw end on that are used for the wire ends that goes through net curtains are brilliant. You make a small hole at the top and screw them in. It works Happy
